*This is a part-time Other Personnel Service (OPS) Environmental Specialist position working with the Department of Health in Lee County.*

This $20 per hour, 24 hours per week, part-time Environmental Specialist position performs duties under the direction of the Environmental Supervisor with the Environmental Public Health Section of the Florida Department of Health in Lee County.

The primary focus areas for the incumbent will start with training to perform quality assurance inspections, enforcement, and other duties in the following areas:

  • Water Sampling
  • Limited Use Drinking Water Systems
  • Public Swimming Pool Program
  • Harmful Algae Bloom Monitoring and Tracking
  • Healthy Beaches Program
  • Sanitary complaints and legal enforcement

Additional training and experience will follow, in the programs/focus areas listed below, as priorities allow:

  • Biomedical Waste
  • Body Art/Body Piercing & Tattooing
  • Group Care
  • Migrant Farmworker Housing
  • Mobile Home/RV Parks
  • Tanning
  • Food Hygiene
  • Sanitary Complaints and Legal Enforcement
  • Onsite Treatment and Disposal Systems
  • Environmental Water Laboratory
  • Well Surveillance (SUPER Act)
