_Academy Innovation Director & Instructor (FLA)
FLA is seeking a full-time caring, dynamic, engaging, creative, and student-centered high school innovation instructor for the 2026-2027 school year. The school has one of the most effective and comprehensive innovation programs in the denomination. The innovation candidate should be familiar with:
- Competency-based education
- Project based learning
- Scrum
- The Lean Start Up method
- Design Thinking
- Robotics
- Physical programming and coding
- Experience with Python and Scratch preferred
- Laser cutters, 3D printers, graphic design software, microcontroller programming software, and 3D design software
- Curriculum development
- The ability to create lesson plans to meet the needs of diverse student population
Skills, Education, and Experience Required:
Applicant must be a tithe-paying Seventh-day Adventist church member in good standing and have the legal right to work in the United States, providing evidence if employed. A minimum of a bachelor's degree with North American Division (Denominational) Teacher Certification is required and must be maintained (or must agree to work towards obtaining NAD Certification). A minimum of three years of successful classroom experience is preferred. Must have a service-oriented attitude; be an effective communicator possessing excellent verbal and written communication skills; and be able to positively engage with students and families of diverse backgrounds, regardless of language, ethnicity, race, or socioeconomic status. Possessing competent technology skills using current educational software and hardware is essential. Additional traits should include organization, attention to detail, being self-directed, and being motivated. Absolute confidentiality is required. Curriculum familiarity, content knowledge, and proficiency in instructional delivery are crucial. Most importantly, the applicant must possess a love for God, a love for working with children, and a desire to see each child in Heaven.
Job Responsibilities:
The teacher will be expected to:
- Promote the Seventh-day Adventist philosophy, ensuring that all subject matter is taught from a Seventh-day Adventist perspective based on curriculum guidelines and requirements of the North American Division, Southern Union Conference, and Florida Conference
- Establish and maintain a Christian atmosphere within the classroom and campus; Conduct a short devotional and have prayer at the beginning of each class
- Develop and submit weekly lesson plans to the principal or vice principal as required; Lesson plans are to include Objectives, Procedures, and Evaluation for each learning style; Must also demonstrate evidence of lesson/unit planning and preparation that honors individual diversity and builds upon prior knowledge
- Develop long-term yearly/semesterly/quarterly plans and goals for each subject
- Select resources to support the subject matter that is academically and developmentally appropriate for diverse abilities and interests
- Deliver engaging and effective instruction to students, employ a variety of teaching techniques and activities appropriate to student learning styles and subject matter, stimulate critical and creative thinking, and monitor student understanding
- Effectively integrate technology into the classroom
- Use a variety of evaluation techniques to provide feedback and communicate progress, providing opportunities for students to learn from mistakes as well as successes
- Utilize appropriate classroom management routines that facilitate student engagement and continuity
- Provide for individual differences through diagnostic and prescriptive teaching
- Communicate challenging expectations that encompass critical and creative thinking as well as problem-solving skills
- Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that supports and is conducive to student learning, allowing sufficient time for academic activities
- Utilize effective behavior management techniques which promote self-discipline
- Systematically involve all students in the instructional process and encourage intellectual risk taking
- Maintain accurate and organized student class records (attendance, grades, etc.) on the school's Student Information System (SIS) in compliance with administration
- Provide motivating, timely and constructive feedback to students and parents on the SIS
- Communicate with parents regularly, conducting parent/teacher conferences when necessary, keeping them well-informed
- Be willing to grow professionally
