OSP Permit Engineer

Job Title: OSP Permit Coordinator – Fiber (FTTx/OSP)

Location: Broward County, Florida

Employment Type: 1099 contract

Job Summary:

The Permit Coordinator will be responsible for preparing, submitting, and managing permits required for fiber deployment projects (OSP/FTTx). The role involves coordinating with local authorities, municipalities, vendors, and internal teams to ensure timely approval of permits and smooth project execution.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare, review, and submit permit applications for fiber construction (underground & aerial).
• Coordinate with city/municipal authorities, DOT, power companies, and utility agencies for permit approvals.
• Track permit status, maintain permit logs, and follow up to ensure timely clearances.
• Work closely with OSP Design, Construction, and Project Management teams to collect documents required for permit submissions.
• Interpret engineering drawings (KMZ, AutoCAD, Google Earth, fiber route maps) for correct permit application.
• Address any comments, rejections, or revisions requested by authorities and resubmit permits.
• Maintain records, compliance documents, and permit-related correspondence.
• Assist in resolving field issues related to right-of-way (ROW), encroachment, and permissions.
• Ensure all permits comply with applicable local, state, and federal regulations.
• Support internal teams with permit-related updates and reporting.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree preferred (Engineering/Telecom/Civil or related field).
• 1–5 years of experience in telecom fiber permitting or utility permitting.
• Understanding of OSP Fiber construction (underground, aerial, trenching, HDD).
• Basic knowledge of ROW, environmental regulations, traffic control plans, etc.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
• Proficiency in MS Excel, Google Earth, AutoCAD (basic knowledge).
• Excellent communication and coordination skills.
• Strong follow-up skills and ability to manage multiple permits simultaneously.
• Attention to detail and strong documentation skills.

Preferred Skills:

• Experience working with city offices, DOT, utility companies.
• Knowledge of permitting tools/portals (e.g., OneCall, 811, GIS systems).
• Familiarity with telecom service providers (AT&T, Verizon, Lumen, Frontier).
