Dietary Manager Opportunity
Emerald Coast Behavioral Hospital provides inpatient treatment services to adolescents and adults at our 86-bed facility in Panama City, FL and outpatient services to adolescents and adults at our three outpatient centers located throughout the Florida Panhandle. Additionally, we offer specialized treatment for active duty military members through our Military Resiliency Program, specialized chemical dependency treatment and TMS therapy for chronic depression.

The Dietary Manager is responsible for managing and coordinating all activities of the Dietary Department which includes providing nutritional and attractive meals for patients and facility employees, maintaining an organized and sanitary environment, monitoring supply inventories and purchasing food and supplies as required, ensuring proper storage of food and supplies and managing effective dietary staff in accordance with facility policies, physician orders, patient care plans and appropriate regulations.
Job Duties/Responsibilities:
- Hire, train and develop, recognize, coach and counsel, evaluate and recommend for corrective actions department staff. Make job assignments and set priorities.
- Ensures that the snack program meets dietary needs and is signed off on by Dietician.
- Provide nutritious, well-prepared, and palatable meals in a timely and consistent manner while adhering to menus and diet orders. Verify appropriate meals/snacks are served to patients with special dietary needs. Monitor food production, maintaining use of standardized recipes and menus and ensuring proper preparation and storage of food and supplies. Participate in maintaining records of the patient's food likes and dislikes as needed.
- Provide technical guidance and administrative direction over diet planning, menu formulation, preparation, and service of regular and therapeutic diets. Plan menus, conferring with the Dietician as needed, to confirm that menus conform to nutritional standards and government and established regulations and procedures.
- Purchase food and supplies within budget and maintain a supply to adequately cover each meal and emergency contingencies in accordance with accreditation standards and State and federal regulations.
- Meet facility policies and State and Federal regulations regarding sanitation and safe food handling techniques. Monitor food preparation, food storage areas and equipment to verify they are maintained in a clean, safe and orderly manner; maintain strict adherence to procedures regarding cleaners or hazardous materials or objects; verify universal precautions and infection control, isolation, fire, safety and sanitation practices and procedures are followed; and promptly address any hazardous conditions and equipment. Develop plan of correction following State, Federal and QA surveys, as needed.
- Participate in regularly scheduled conferences including department head meetings and interdisciplinary care plan meetings. Maintain records, manage budget and supplies.
- Ability to perform staff roles on a regular basis to include but not limited to food preparation and service to patients and staff.

QualificationsRequirements:
- Five (5) years' experience in food service required. Two (2) years' experience in dietary supervision preferred. Healthcare food service experience preferred.
- High School Diploma or Equivalent required. Associates degree or equivalent from a two year college or a vocational or technical school preferred.
- Certified Dietary Manager (CDM) or Registered Dietitian (RD) required. If RD, Fl. Dietitian Licensure required.
- ServSafe Certification or Equivalent required within 90 days of hire.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule to meet the needs of the department. Dietary department is open 7 days per week and staff work hours vary between 5:30a to 6:30p.
