Field Engineer

Position Overview:
The Field Engineer will be responsible for the installation of phone, internet, television, and security services at various client sites. A Field Engineer plays a pivotal role in supporting SC’s continued track record of driving efficient operations, while offering a ‘white glove’ level of service. Supervisory Responsibilities:
- N/A
- Performing on all on-site activities related to installations, including site surveys, repairs, management, and maintenance
- Tracking and documenting the progression of work plan.
- Deploying and troubleshooting wired and wireless networks.
- Deploying and troubleshooting security systems.
- Building relationships and fostering trust with customers and clients.
- Perform and document site survey with documentation, diagrams, and photos.
- Making recommendations for improvements regarding infrastructure.
- Performing customer support tasks.
- Adhering to company rules and regulations.
- Operating company vehicles in a safe manner.
- Various other duties as assigned by management.
- Previous experience as a field engineer/field technician highly preferred
- LAN Knowledge, Networking Knowledge, Network Design and Implementation, Network Troubleshooting, Network Hardware Configuration
- Understanding of basic networking protocols and fundamentals
- Cisco Routers, Cisco Switches, Cisco IOS, Layer 2, Layer 3, WLAN, LAN and WAN
- Facilities security systems: low voltage wiring, cables, cameras, card readers
- A valid driver’s license and clean motor vehicle record.
- Experience with Category 5 and 6 cables
- Vast knowledge on punch-downs
- Knowledge on copper and fiber terminations
- Experience using LC and SC connectors
- An expert on fluke network fiber optic tools
- Knowledge on security systems
- Experience with HDMI
- Experience in using the 'Rack and Stack' system and configuring installations effectively
- Experience using Visio

- Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
- Must be able to travel locally on a daily basis to various customer sites.
- Must be able to travel overnight to out of state locations as required.
- Requires frequent kneeling and bending and considerable use of hands and tools. Walking great lengths at a time.
- Frequently requires moving or lifting of up to 50 pounds and able to lift 75 pounds on occasion.
- Exposure to live electrical circuits.
- Exposure to extreme environmental conditions.
- Able to work in confined spaces.
