As the Diesel Mechanic , you’ll join a collaborative team ensuring that our clients can deliver their services – uninterrupted. Based in The Villages, FL , you’ll have the opportunity to perform a variety of maintenance and preventive maintenance tasks on our sanitation fleet in a safe and efficient manner.

Diesel Mechanics use a variety of technical and soft skills to provide the most comprehensive repair solutions they can, including:

• Consulting drivers and reading work orders to evaluate the tasks required
• Preparing work plans after fully scoping out the issues
• Running diagnostic tests on diesel engines and interpreting the results to offer suitable solutions
• Inspecting vehicle systems, including suspensions, steering and exhausts
• Diagnosing brakes, engines and other associated parts
• Conducting field visits in the case of an emergency or sudden breakdown
• Test driving repaired by self or other vehicles to gauge their performance
• Completing oil changes, wheel balancing, alignment, and brake checks
• Maintaining records of parts inventory and serviced vehicles
• Advanced knowledge of a vehicle, its electrical system, and the mechanisms of a diesel engine
• In-depth knowledge of diesel engine components and operational mechanisms
• Superior knowledge of maintenance tools and repair equipment
• Comfortable using mechanical and electrical power tools
• Excellent problem-solving skills
• Keen attention to detail
• Basic knowledge of computer systems and other relevant electronics
• Proficiency in the use of diesel engine diagnostic software
• Ability to perform welding and use torches

Here's what you'll need

• Possesses a valid CDL license or able to obtain one within 1 year of

• High School diploma or GED or higher
• Drivers license with no major infractions
• ASE Certification(preferred) with two years’ experience on diesel vehicles
• Proficient in use of Excel computer software
• Basic computer knowledge

Ideally, You’ll Also Have:

• Proficient in use of computer software including but not limited to Microsoft Word, Outlook

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements:

Posted Salary Range: Minimum

55,000.00

Posted Salary Range: Upper

65,000.00

The base salary range for this position is $55,000.00 to $65,000.00; though will be paid hourly based on hours worked. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
