Location: St. Augustine, Florida, 32092
Shift: Monday - Friday 7am-4pm
Pay: $16/hour
Job Description
The forklift operator safely moves pallets of raw materials from trucks into designated lanes within a busy manufacturing plant. This role spends the majority of the time operating a sit-down forklift in a fast-paced, dusty production environment and requires strong attention to detail, safe operating practices, and the ability to maneuver materials into tight spaces.
Responsibilities
- Operate a sit-down forklift safely and efficiently for the majority of the shift.
- Unload pallets of raw materials from incoming trucks and transport them to designated lanes.
- Pick up and move raw materials into tight and confined storage spaces with precision.
- Support production by ensuring raw materials are staged correctly and in a timely manner.
- Assist with loading and unloading materials for shipping and receiving as needed.
- Follow all safety procedures and guidelines while operating equipment and working on the plant floor.
- Maintain awareness of surroundings in a busy manufacturing environment with other equipment and personnel moving nearby.
- Perform general labor tasks in the production and shipping areas as required.
- Conduct basic pre-use checks of the forklift and report any mechanical or safety issues.
- Keep work areas as clean and organized as possible within a dusty environment.
Essential Skills
- Proven experience operating a sit-down forklift in a manufacturing, production, or warehouse environment.
- Demonstrated ability to safely operate a forklift in a busy, high-traffic area.
- Strong attention to detail when picking up, moving, and placing pallets of raw materials.
- Comfort working in a very dusty production environment.
- Ability to maneuver forklifts and materials into tight and confined spaces.
- Safety-oriented mindset with consistent adherence to safety rules and procedures.
- Reliability and willingness to perform general labor and material handling tasks as needed.
- Ability to support unloading, loading, shipping, and production operations.

- Detail-oriented approach to handling materials and documenting work where required.
- Comfort working in a physically demanding environment with exposure to dust and mess.
- Willingness to adapt to changing production and shipping priorities.
- Ability to collaborate with production and shipping teams in a fast-paced setting.

Work Environment
This role is based in a manufacturing plant that produces geothermal materials. The production floor is very dusty, and employees working in this area should expect to leave covered in white dust each day. The environment is busy, with active production, shipping, and material handling taking place throughout the shift. Work involves operating a sit-down forklift for extended periods, moving through tight spaces and around other equipment and personnel. Conditions can be messy and may include strong industrial odors typical of a heavy manufacturing facility. Appropriate work attire and any required protective equipment are necessary to work comfortably and safely in this setting.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of St. Augustine, FL.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $16.00 - $16.00/hr.
