Summary

The Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) provides physical therapy services under the direction and supervision of the Physical Therapist (PT). PTAs implement selected components of patient/client interventions and obtain data related to that intervention; make modifications in selected interventions either to progress the patient/client as directed by the Physical Therapist or to ensure patient/client safety and comfort; educate and interact with Physical Therapist and Physical Therapist Assistant students, technicians, volunteers, patients/clients families, caregivers; and respond to patient/client and environmental emergency situations. The PTA is expected to conduct themselves in an effective professional behavior manner. Required:

• Associate's Physical Therapist Assistant

• Eligible Lee Health candidates are required to graduate from an accredited program. The accepted accrediting body required for Lee Health's Rehabilitation Professionals is the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE).

• Active Florida Physical Therapist Assistant

• BLS (American Heart Association / Basic Life Support)

Other: Staff may be required to rotate to treatment areas, other than their primary designation, as requested by their department leader. This could include a regulated area (Skilled Nursing Facility, Home Health, Rehab Hospital and Pediatrics) that requires Level 2 Background Screening.
