The Director of Engineering serves as the senior technical and operational leader for the engineering department, overseeing structural engineering, building restoration, forensic investigations, milestone inspections, and construction administration projects. This individual is responsible for engineering excellence, quality control, staff development, project delivery, and strategic growth initiatives while serving as the lead Professional Engineer for the organization.
This position requires extensive experience managing engineering teams, delivering complex structural projects, and maintaining strong client relationships throughout all phases of project execution.
- Expert knowledge of Florida Building Code (FBC), ASCE, ACI, and AISC standards
- Advanced proficiency with structural analysis and design software including RISA, RAM, ETABS, SAFE, ADAPT, and Revit
- Strong expertise in MasterFormat specification writing
- Excellent technical writing, reporting, and communication skills
- Experience serving as Engineer of Record on complex projects
- Strong understanding of construction administration and restoration project delivery
- Serve as the lead Professional Engineer and technical authority for the organization
- Direct engineering operations and oversee project execution across all service lines
- Lead and oversee Phase 1 and Phase 2 Milestone Inspection programs
- Review and approve structural calculations, drawings, specifications, reports, and engineering deliverables
- Provide quality assurance and quality control oversight for all projects
- Manage engineering staff, project workloads, and resource allocation
- Oversee building restoration, structural rehabilitation, and forensic engineering projects
- Direct construction administration activities, including contractor coordination and technical issue resolution
- Conduct and review forensic investigations involving structural failures, water intrusion, and construction defects
- Ensure projects are delivered on schedule and within budget
- Participate in business development, client management, and proposal preparation
- Lead meetings with clients, contractors, condominium boards, attorneys, and project teams
- Support recruitment, hiring, training, and professional development initiatives
- Establish engineering standards, procedures, and best practices
- Drive operational efficiency and continuous improvement initiatives
- Provide mentorship and technical leadership to engineering staff
- Foster a culture of accountability, quality, and professional growth
- Support strategic planning and long-term business objectives
- Maintain strong client relationships and industry presence

- Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
- Florida Professional Engineer (PE) license required
- Structural Engineer (SE) license preferred
- 8–12 years of structural engineering experience
- 3+ years of building restoration and/or forensic engineering experience
- Experience with Phase 1 and Phase 2 Milestone Inspections
- Experience leading project teams and coordinating multidisciplinary efforts
