Assistant Project Manager (APM) - Ground-up Commercial
We are a relationship-driven general contractor in Orlando known for delivering high-quality commercial construction projects through hands-on leadership, disciplined project management, and clear communication. We parnter closely with clients, architects, and trade partners to efficiently build spaces that meet demanding schedules, budgets, and long-term performance goals.
Position OverviewWe are seeking a proactive Assistant Project Manager (APM) to support the successful delivery of mid-to-large scale construction projects. The APM will assist Project Managers in coordinating on-site operations, managing schedules and budgets, and ensuring safety and quality standards are met across ground-up commercial, industrial, multifamily, and warehouse projects. The ideal candidate has hands-on construction experience with steel, concrete, sitework and tilt-up methods, strong Procore skills, and the ability to communicate clearly with field teams, subcontractors, and clients. Key Responsibilities
- Support Project Managers in planning, executing, and closing ground-up commercial, industrial, multifamily, and warehouse construction projects.
- Coordinate daily site activities, track progress, and ensure work is performed to schedule and quality standards.
- Manage project documentation in Procore including RFIs, submittals, daily reports, logs, and change orders.
- Assist in preparing and maintaining project schedules, budgets, and cost tracking; identify and communicate risks and variances.
- Coordinate and communicate with subcontractors, vendors, consultants, and owners to resolve issues and maintain project momentum.
- Conduct site inspections and quality control checks for steel, concrete, tilt-up, and sitework operations; enforce safety and compliance with project specifications and company safety programs.
- Support procurement and material logistics to ensure timely delivery and staging of equipment and materials.
- Prepare regular project reports and deliverables for Project Managers and stakeholders, including meeting agendas and minutes.
- Assist in claim documentation, change management, and scope verification to protect project margins.
- Contribute to continuous improvement efforts by documenting lessons learned and supporting process enhancements.
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or related field, or equivalent construction experience.
- 3+ years of hands-on experience in construction roles such as Assistant Project Manager, Project Engineer, Superintendent, or field engineer on ground-up commercial, industrial, tilt-up, multifamily, or warehouse projects.
- Direct experience with steel and concrete construction methods and sitework coordination preferred.
- Proven experience using Procore for project management documentation and workflows.
- Familiarity with scheduling software (MS Project, Primavera, or similar) and basic cost tracking tools.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and shop drawings.
- Detail-oriented, organized, and able to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Valid drivers license and willingness to travel to job sites as required.
