Manager of Software Engineering

Join our PetMeds/PetCareRX (“PETS”) team as the Manager, Software Engineering and be a driving force in our digital retail success. In this role, you will lead a talented team to develop and maintain high-traffic e-commerce websites, leveraging your expertise in Salesforce Commerce Cloud (SFCC), JavaScript, Java, and the full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC). Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and manage a team of software engineers specializing in web development, including both onshore and offshore teams, focusing on SFCC and performance-driven web applications.
• Actively participate in hands-on coding, troubleshooting, and architectural design, providing technical guidance and best practices to the team.
• Oversee the end-to-end development and maintenance of D2C e-commerce websites, ensuring optimal performance, scalability, and user experience.
• Implement and manage Product Information Management (PIM) and Order Management Systems (OMS) to support efficient e-commerce operations.
• Drive the development of subscription management features and other business-critical functionalities.
• Ensure adherence to the SDLC process, promoting best practices, code quality, and efficient workflows.
• Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including Product, Design, QA, and Web Support, to deliver robust, user-centered digital experiences.
• Utilize e-commerce analytics to guide strategic decisions and optimize website performance.
• Provide technical direction, mentorship, and career development for team members, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
• Coordinate with offshore teams to ensure seamless collaboration, clear communication, and timely delivery of project milestones.
• Develop support strategies and manage web support for high traffic and peak usage times, ensuring high availability and reliability.

Qualifications:

Education & Experience:

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in web development, with at least 2 years in managerial role.
• Proven experience managing high-traffic websites, preferably in e-commerce and D2C.
• Expertise in Salesforce Commerce Cloud (SFCC) development.
• Experience with PIM and OMS solutions.
• Demonstrated experience managing offshore teams and coordinating across different time zones.
• Background in the pet retail industry is a plus.

Skills & Competencies:

• Proficiency in JavaScript, Java, and related web frameworks (e.g., React, Angular, or Vue).
• Strong understanding of SDLC processes, Agile methodologies, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience in subscription management and e-commerce analytics integration.
• Knowledge of strategies to support high-traffic website performance, scalability, and security.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective cross-functional and offshore team collaboration.
