Duties and Responsibilities
This position is responsible for all program activities associated with Dealer Licensing, consumer complaint investigations and various inspection programs. The position is also responsible for supervising, training and development of subordinates; directing the collection of data, ensuring timely reporting of program data and updating program procedures. The incumbent is responsible for directing complaint investigations and processingwithin the region; overseeing the timely processing of dealer license issuance, titles and registrations. This position is also responsible for coordinating all promotional activities necessary for the implementation of the assigned programs, dealer licensing at the regional level, and related work or special projects as assigned.

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of FLHSMV rules, policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of the automotive industry.
  • Skill in operating personal computers, Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Skill in planning, organizing and coordinating work.
  • Skill in communicating with customers effectively efficiently in a tactful and courteous manner.
  • Skill in Florida Real-nme Vehicle Information System (FRVIS).
  • Skill in investigative report writing.
  • Skill in preparing and coordinating statistical information and activity reports.
  • Skill in delivering training and/ or presentations.
  • Ability to supervise, lead, delegate and motivate the activities of subordinate staff relating to the administration of bureau programs in order to meet bureau goals and objectives.

 

Preferred Qualifications
Preference will be given to candidates with the following:

  • Experience conferring with officials, technical or professional specialists, or interviewing individuals to obtain information or clarify facts.
  • Experience researching and applyingrules, regulations, policies and procedures administered by a governmental agency or private entity.
  • Experience in the collection of data, ensuring timely reporting of data and updating procedures.
  • Experience preparing and/ or approving investigative reports.
  • Experience using Microsoft Word and Excel.

 

Job Related Requirements

  • This position requires the incumbent to have and maintain a valid driver's license in good standing. This means there can be no cancellations, suspensions, or revocations for a minimum of three years prior to employment and for the duration of employment. There can be no more than three chargeable crashes or any violation of Chapter 316, Florida Statutes, during any consecutive three-year period prior to and throughout employment.
  • This position requires occasional overnight travel.
  • Required to work in both controlled indoor environments, as well as outdoor environments.
  • This position requires the incumbent to be able to spend time sitting and standing, using his or her hands to type, and handle office equipment. The position also requires sitting, squatting, and bending to get into, out of, and under a motor vehicle.
  • Knowledge of Florida Real-nme Vehicle Information System (FRVIS), Microsoft word, Excel,
    Outlook, Power Point,Internet Records Information System (IRIS), National Insurance Crime Bureau (NICB), Database, My Florida Market Place e-procurement system (MFMP).
  • Ability to workwith computers, printers, fax machines, telephones, scanners, copiers, aircards, and VIN Etching Tool.
  • Required to lift boxes and equipment up to 30 lbs.

 

General Information

  • The elements of the selection process may include a skill assessment and/or oral interview.
  • Applicants being considered for employment will be required to submit to a fingerprint-based background investigation, which will include a check of the criminal history records of the FBI. Fingerprints and associated information/biometrics will be retained in the FBI’s Next Generation Identification (NGI) system and fingerprints may continue to be compared against fingerprints submitted to or retained by NGI.
  • FLHSMV employees are paid once a month on the last workday of each month. All state employees are required to participate in the direct deposit program pursuant to s. 110.113 Florida Statutes.
