Registered Nurse - Pediatric/Psychiatric

Florida Palms Academy is seeking a Licensed Clinical Therapists for its Statewide Inpatient Psychiatric Program (SIPP) located in Hollywood, Florida (Broward County) . This program is specifically designed for elementary and middle school-aged children and adolescents (6-14) who can benefit from psychiatric residential treatment. Our treatment center’s average length of stay is approximately 6 months.

Our team includes educators, psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, nurses, counselors, direct care staff, and support staff, all of whom are experienced in their disciplines.

RN/LPN Position:

Major Duties and Responsibilities (but not limited to):

• Notifies appropriate personnel, according to policy, of the client's behavioral changes, medication errors, laboratory results, and medical concerns.
• Communicates with the nurse from the previous and following shifts through shift reports.
• Completes the resident’s admission assessment and discharge summary
• Facilitates referrals to primary care physicians, dietitians, or others as ordered by the Psychiatrist.
• Summarizes the client’s medical, medication, allergy history and highlights any recorded problems for the MD on admission and throughout treatment.
• Monitors client’s record for compliance of obtaining annual physical, eye exams, six-month dental exam, labs.
• Accurately obtains and records temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure, height, and weight and communicates abnormalities to the MD.
• Attends in-service training
• Maintains client’s record and conducts chart audits.
• Assists the psychiatrist during psychopharmacological reviews, transcribes orders, and completes corresponding documentation.
• Performs other duties as defined by the direct supervisor, psychiatrist, and/or Program Director that is consistent with the scope of the job.

Requirements:

• Valid Florida RN or LPN license in good standing Valid Florida Driver's license.
• At least 2 years of experience in nursing, preferably in Pediatric Psychiatry.
