Summary

Seeking a qualified pharmacist with sterile compounding experience to join a dynamic pharmacy team. This role is responsible for the safe and accurate dispensing of medications, ensuring compliance with all applicable federal and state pharmacy laws, as well as adherence to company policies and procedures. Occasional travel to other facilities may be required.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Receive new prescription orders from authorized prescribers.
• Interpret clinical data to ensure safe and effective medication use.
• Conduct final inspection of all packaged drugs prior to dispensing.
• Supervise and oversee pharmacy interns and technicians, retaining professional responsibility for delegated tasks.
• Review and verify all controlled substances received from wholesalers.
• Complete required documents, forms, and reports accurately and in a timely manner.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and secure prescription department.

Prescription Verification

• Review and evaluate all prescriptions for accuracy and completeness in patient records.
• Conduct Drug Utilization Reviews before dispensing.
• Provide consultations to patients, caregivers, and prescribers.
• Transfer prescriptions between pharmacies when necessary.
• Confirm all pharmaceutical calculations for compounded products.
• Maintain strict control and logging of controlled substances.

Non-Sterile Lab Responsibilities

• Oversee compounding processes and confirm pharmaceutical calculations.
• Perform quality assurance checks on completed compounds.
• Verify accuracy and quality of new chemical ingredients.
• Release sterility-tested compounds from quarantine once approved.

Sterile Lab Responsibilities

• Oversee and perform sterile medication compounding.
• Verify compounding accuracy, packaging, labeling, and storage.
• Conduct environmental monitoring of clean rooms.
• Ensure compliance with regulations governing sterile product preparation.
• Supervise cleaning and maintenance of sterile compounding equipment and areas.
