SPECIAL NOTES:

Preferences:
• Two (2) years of professional experience involving workers’ compensation claims. A post-secondary degree may be used as an alternative for the preferred experience on a year-for-year basis.

• Six (6) months’ experience in a position requiring the processing of medical payments or knowledge of medical terms.
• Six (6) months’ experience in working with workers’ compensation claims in any capacity.
• Six (6) months’ experience in customer service and providing information to callers.

This position starts with a salary of $40,140.00.

Employees of the Department of Financial Services are paid on a monthly pay cycle.

This position is in our office in Tallahassee, FL with work hours from 8:00am – 5:00pm.

This position requires a security background check, including fingerprint as a condition of employment.

Minimum Qualifications for this position include the following REQUIRED ENTRY LEVEL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

• Knowledge of the principles and techniques of effective verbal and written communication
• Ability to examine and evaluate data relating to a workers’ compensation program
• Ability to understand and apply applicable rules, regulations, policies and procedures relating to a workers’ compensation program.
• Ability to conduct fact finding investigations
• Handle telephone calls in a fast, courteous and effective manner
• Ability to deal with the public in a tactful and courteous manner
• Ability to work independently, utilizing problem solving techniques
• Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments
• Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
• Ability to prepare and maintain reports
• Ability to perform basic mathematic calculations

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:
This position assists workers’ compensation specialist with reviewing and evaluating medical-only workers’ compensation claims, processing and paying medical and legal bills associated with workers’ compensation claims and reviewing workers’ compensation First Report of Injury forms.
