District Service Manager - Pompano, FL

The District Service Manager is a key leader responsible for overseeing the performance and success of Service Departments across multiple branch locations. This role is instrumental in building profitable service operations by driving technician development, customer satisfaction, safety, and operational efficiency. The District Service Manager works closely with Branch Managers and Service Managers to ensure consistent standards, maximize technician productivity, and manage regional service budgets and profitability.
Essential Functions
· Provide leadership, guidance, and strategic direction to Service Managers and their teams across multiple branch locations.
· Oversee service operations to ensure alignment with company goals, safety standards, and customer satisfaction metrics.
· Evaluate, monitor, and report on technician performance, work order turnaround time, and department profitability.
· Partner with Branch Managers to support technician recruitment, training, and retention efforts.
· Conduct regular site visits to ensure operational consistency, safety compliance, and high service quality.
· Review and optimize preventative maintenance programs and service processes across branches.
· Serve as a liaison between corporate leadership and branch service teams to communicate expectations, initiatives, and goals.
· Assist in workforce planning, including technician workload balancing and inter-branch support where needed.
· Drive implementation of OEM product improvement programs and maintain awareness of industry trends.
· Support onboarding and continuous development of Service Managers and lead district-wide training efforts.
· Collaborate with Parts, Rental, and Sales departments to foster cross-functional alignment and maximize customer experience.
· Prepare and analyze district-level reports on service metrics, safety, and financial performance.
· Actively participate in budget planning and monitor district-wide service department P&L.
· Enforce consistent adherence to safety protocols, environmental regulations, and quality assurance policies.

Required Education and Experience:
· High School Diploma required; technical school certification or relevant degree preferred.
· Minimum 7 years of experience in service management, with at least 3 years overseeing multiple locations or teams in the heavy equipment industry.
· Strong understanding of diesel and heavy equipment service operations, preventative maintenance, and OEM systems.
· Proficiency in MS Office applications; experience with service software and reporting tools.
· Proven ability to lead and develop high-performing teams across multiple sites.
· Valid Driver's License and willingness to travel to assigned branches.
· Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
· Demonstrated ability to drive operational excellence and manage budgets.
Military service will be considered in lieu of education/certification experience as applicable.
Supervisory Responsibilities
· Directly supervises and supports Service Managers across a designated district.
· Indirectly oversees field and shop technicians through coordination with branch leadership.
· Provides coaching, mentoring, and performance management to drive operational consistency and technician development.
Work Environment
· Combination of office, shop, and yard settings.
· Regular exposure to diesel engines, heavy equipment, and mechanical tools.
· Noise levels may be high at times; ear protection may be required.
· Exposure to diesel fumes, lubricants, and other shop-related chemicals.
· Occasional lifting, bending, and walking throughout the facility.
· Must frequently wear personal protective equipment (PPE) when in the shop or yard.
· Variable temperatures depending on season and location (indoor/outdoor exposure).
· Fast-paced, hands-on environment requiring strong leadership and adaptability.
· Standard business hours with occasional extended hours or weekend oversight as needed.
· Collaboration with technicians, service advisors, rental staff, and customers.
Travel Required
· Regular travel to branch locations within the assigned district (up to 50%).
· Occasional overnight stays based on operational needs.
Physical Demands
· Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, and move throughout the office, shop, and yard areas.
· Must be able to bend, kneel, or crouch occasionally to inspect equipment or interact with technicians in shop settings.
· Ability to lift and carry up to 30 pounds occasionally, such as files, parts, or equipment manuals.
· Frequent use of hands and fingers for typing, writing, and using office equipment.
· Visual and auditory ability required to read documents, use computer screens, and communicate effectively in noisy environments.
· Occasional exposure to outdoor elements including heat, cold, wind, and rain while walking through the yard or checking on equipment.
· Must be able to safely navigate uneven surfaces and work around heavy machinery or vehicles in operation.
· May be required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) such as safety glasses, steel-toe boots, gloves, or hearing protection when in shop or yard areas.
