Payment Poster

Position Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and dependable Payment Poster to join our revenue cycle team. This role is responsible for accurately posting insurance and patient payments, reconciling accounts, identifying discrepancies, and supporting timely billing and collections processes. The ideal candidate is organized, analytical, and comfortable working in a fast-paced behavioral healthcare environment with a strong focus on accuracy and productivity.
Key Responsibilities
- Post insurance payments, patient payments, EFTs, checks, and credit card transactions accurately and timely
- Reconcile daily deposits and payment batches
- Review Explanation of Benefits (EOBs) and Electronic Remittance Advice (ERAs)
- Identify and escalate payment discrepancies, denials, underpayments, and unapplied balances
- Ensure adjustments, refunds, and write-offs are entered correctly
- Work closely with billing, collections, and admissions teams to resolve account issues
- Maintain accurate patient account records in the EMR and billing systems
- Assist with month-end reporting and account reconciliation as needed
- Follow all HIPAA, compliance, and confidentiality standards
- Meet productivity and accuracy expectations in a high-volume environment
Qualifications
- Previous payment posting, medical billing, accounts receivable, or revenue cycle experience required
- Behavioral health or healthcare industry experience preferred
- Experience working with commercial insurance, Medicaid, Medicare, and managed care plans preferred
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
- Proficient computer skills and experience with EMR/billing software
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
- High school diploma or equivalent required
