GENERAL MAINTENANCE WORKER - FULL TIME

SandyPines Residential Treatment Center is a 149 bed Residential Psychiatric Facility servicing children and adolescents ages 5 to 17. The facility is located in beautiful sub-tropical South Florida and is nestled beside Jonathan Dickinson Sate Park which creates a rustic, roomy outdoor atmosphere. SandyPines is at the county line of both Palm Beach and Martin Counties and is just minutes away from the shores of the Atlantic Ocean.

Qualifications Education and Experience
- High School diploma or equivalent
- At least 2 years of previous maintenance experience in an Institutional setting.
- Working knowledge of hand and power tools and ability to read, write and communicate in English.
- Demonstrate ability to complete forms, reports and follow both verbal and written instructions.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Examines rooms, halls, and lobbies to determine need for repairs or replacement of furniture or equipment, and makes recommendations to management.
• Uses knowledge of fundamental mechanical, electrical, carpentry and plumbing.
• Responsible for shutting off gas, water, electricity, etc. in emergency situations.
• Responsible for completing work orders by end of day requested, if possible.
• Performs regular preventative maintenance on machines and equipment throughout facility.
• Uses a variety of hand and power tools in performing maintenance duties.
• Complies with safety regulations and maintains clean and orderly work areas.
• Performs all other duties as required or assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
• Good verbal and written communication skills required.
• Proven ability to handle multiple projects under pressure.
• Ability to pay continual attention to detail.
• Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment with demonstrated ability to juggle multiple competing tasks and demands.
• Ability to develop and maintain professional working relationships with all internal/external interface points.
• Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize workload and meet deadlines.
• Understands need for and maintains appropriate confidentiality at all times when interacting with patients, residents, families, visitors, referral sources and all other contacts.
• Skill in operation of power tools, manual tools, and various equipment.
• Ability to safely handle electric, plumbing and other emergencies.
• Knowledge of fundamental mechanical, electrical, carpentry and plumbing.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a current, valid driver’s license.
Technical Skills
Skills in one or more of the specialized trades.
