Florida For All Political Director

About Florida for All
Florida for All is a statewide coalition of Florida-based progressive organizations, including Service Employees International Union Florida (SEIU FL), Florida Rising, Florida Immigrant Coalition, Faith in Florida, Central Florida Jobs with Justice, and Dream Defenders. We believe that no matter where you come from, your zip code, or the language you speak, we all need an authentic democracy that represents us and elected leaders who care about our concerns. Florida for All is centered around values of authentic democracy, people and planet over profits, interdependence, and radical inclusion.
Our shared efforts are grounded in a long-term theory of change built around an aspiration to shift economic and governing power toward racial and gender equity and a truly democratic state. In pursuit of that vision, we are grounded in three transformational goals:
- Win governing power in key regions across Florida toward the goal of winning statewide governing power
- Leverage power over economic engines in key regions across Florida toward power and influence in the statewide economy
- Change structures that limit participation in democracy and build a civically engaged, conscious electorate
To achieve these goals, Florida for All builds collaborative infrastructure, programs and civic engagement campaigns at a level of scale and impact that is only possible by working together.

FFA seeks a highly skilled and passionate advocate to help us build a Florida for all through political strategy and public policy at the local, state and federal level. We are looking for a collaborative and compassionate leader who will inform and build coalition strategy in coordination with our partners' policy and political directors, join forces with organizational partners in issue-based coalitions, center people in the legislative process, and support progressive lawmakers on the ground in the State Capitol and in local municipal/county chambers, as well as occasionally federal chambers. This role also requires someone who can help FFA and its partners develop a political and electoral strategy.
This is not a typical policy job. This role serves as a Âlegislative quarterback during legislative session for statewide coalition partners. It's part strategy, part lobbying, part movement building. This job is for someone who thrives in a high-stakes, fast-moving environment and is passionate about challenging corporate power, defending democracy, and shifting the status quo in Florida. The Political Director works closely in coordination with FFA member organizations' policy directors and reports directly to the FFA Executive Director.

- Works to build strong relationships with Elected Officials, allied organization policy/political directors & community leaders;

- Familiarity with the political landscape and established relationships with Florida and national movement-building organizations is a plus;
- Experience in political campaigns, unions, or grassroots organizing for social justice issues;
- Strong self-management and initiative are needed. This is a director-level position that requires the ability to independently identify priorities, make strategic decisions, and take ownership of work without constant direction, especially during the fast-paced legislative session;
- Ability to communicate with, understand, and anticipate the diverse concerns of people of varied economic, racial, ethnic, and gender backgrounds and identities;
- Demonstrated experience building and coordinating large coalitions, with strong facilitation and alignment skills;
