Senior Java Developer

The project
TECKpert seeks to hire an Senior Java Developer to support our client, a government agency based in Tallahassee, FL. In this role, you will be working with key staff across areas of analysis, design, development, integration, and testing of in-house applications across the portfolio. This role will be assigned projects as needs arise centered around supporting applications to ensure stability as well as achieving integration objectives with other systems. The candidate will need to be well versed in Java/JEE and Oracle as they serve as the backbone to our client’s stack.
Job duties include, but are not limited to:
- Perform maintenance, enhancement, and support tasks for a diverse range of the agency's business applications.
- Aid in preparing and documenting program requirements and specifications.
- Conduct research to document the needs and requirements of program users.
- Develop software programs and applications according to specifications, including writing, translating, and coding.
- Contribute to the development and upkeep of user manuals and guidelines.
- Collaborate with network administrators, systems analysts, and software engineers to troubleshoot and resolve issues with software products or company systems.
- Offer mentorship and guidance to junior programmers to facilitate their professional growth and development.
Compensation and Term
This opportunity is for a full-time position with pay commensurate with experience up to $139,000 per year. Medical, dental, vision and life insurance available after 30 days of hire.
Candidates are expected to work onsite at our client’s location.
Qualifications you need
A successful Senior Java Developer possesses or provides the following:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related degree.
- At least seven (7) years of Java application development experience, utilizing frameworks like Struts/Tiles, Struts 2, Servlets/JSP, and JPA/Hibernate.
- At least seven (7) years of experience with Oracle databases, proficient in writing complex queries and developing PL/SQL database objects.
- At least three (3) years of experience with JavaScript frameworks, including AngularJS, NodeJS, React, or JQuery.
- At least three (3) years of experience as a full-stack developer.
- Proficiency in responsive design frameworks, preferably Bootstrap.
- Experience with Git code repositories and continuous integration tools, particularly Jenkins.
- Knowledge of relational database designs and database query tools like TOAD, SQL Developer, and SQL Navigator.
- Understanding of database security principles, including role-based security.
- Familiarity with Unified Modeling Language (UML) and Information Systems Development Methodology (ISDM).
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to anticipate and address potential issues in application software systems.
- Excellent interpersonal, collaborative, oral, and written communication skills.
- Oracle certification(s) is a plus.
- Experience with financial data and principles of accounting, such as GAAP or International Financial Reporting Standards.
- Familiarity with PHP application development, web development using XML and CSS, and JQuery.
- Knowledge of environmental regulatory business processes and practices.
- Understanding of Agile development methodologies, including Scrum, Extreme Programming (XP), and Kanban.
