Senior Accountant

We are looking for a high-caliber Senior Accountant to join our client's Tampa-based finance department. This role is designed for a technical expert who goes beyond data entry to provide high-level analysis and process leadership.

As a Senior Accountant, you will act as a pillar for the Controller, taking ownership of the complex aspects of the General Ledger, mentoring junior staff, and ensuring our financial infrastructure is scalable. This contract-to-hire opportunity is ideal for a professional looking to prove their value and transition into a permanent leadership role within a growing organization.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

• Financial Leadership: Lead the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes, ensuring all deadlines are met with precision.

• Complex Reconciliations: Handle high-level balance sheet reconciliations and investigate complex discrepancies in the GL.

• Technical GAAP Oversight: Ensure compliance with GAAP across all functions, including revenue recognition, accruals, and lease accounting.

• Fixed Asset Strategy: Oversee the fixed asset module, ensuring proper capitalization policies and accurate depreciation across multiple entities or locations.

• Process Improvement: Evaluate existing accounting workflows and implement "best practice" improvements to shorten the close cycle.

• Audit Support: Serve as a primary point of contact for external auditors, preparing comprehensive workpapers and schedules.

Required Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting (CPA or MBA preferred).

• Experience: 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably with a mix of public accounting and corporate environments.

• Advanced Excel: Expert-level skills including Power Query, Pivot Tables, and Data Modeling to handle large datasets.

• ERP : NetSuite, SAP, Sage Intacct preferred
