Financial Analyst
- Grant Financial Management: Track restricted grant funding across programs. Monitor budgets, utilization timelines, and reimbursement requirements to mitigate risks of underutilization or expiration. Maintain rigorous documentation for compliance and audits while collaborating with Program and Development teams.
- Program & Construction Oversight: Develop and monitor budgets for housing rehab, disaster recovery, and capital initiatives. Track budget-to-actuals, flag variances or cost overruns, and review construction expenditures, contractor payments, and change orders. Analyze historical data to refine future forecasting.
- Financial Analysis & Reporting: Produce weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports on grant utilization and project spend. Build financial dashboards (tracking metrics like cost-per-home and project efficiency) and conduct variance analysis to support the CFO and CEO with board-level insights.
- Internal Controls & System Optimization: Support the CFO by ensuring accurate expense coding across grants. Bridge coordination between Finance, Construction, and Program teams. Standardize budget templates and optimize financial tracking within QuickBooks and Excel models.
- Audit & Compliance Support: Prepare documentation and financial schedules for annual audits and funder reviews. Ensure all records align with internal controls, funder mandates, and nonprofit accounting standards. Qualifications Required
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field
- 3-5+ years of experience in financial analysis, budgeting, or program financial management
- strong Excel and financial modeling skills
- Experience preparing financial reports, budgets, and variance analysis
- High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple reporting deadlines
- Ability to communicate financial information clearly to non-financial staff
- Preferred
- Experience in a grant-funded nonprofit environment
- Experience with construction budgeting or job costing
- Familiarity with fund accounting principles
- Experience using QuickBooks or similar accounting software
- Experience supporting grant reimbursement or financial compliance reporting
