GIS Programmer Specialist I or II
:
This is professional, technical and analytical work involving the research, analysis and design of moderately complex Geographic Information Systems and other highly technical software. Work involves the creation, management and analysis of spatial data with land-based GIS applications and data sets. Work includes writing code in one or more programming languages to deliver customized web-based mapping and in response to user requests for program modifications, and training staff in the use of complex automated interactive graphics systems. Work requires maintaining knowledge of current technical and industry trends; and the exercise of initiative and judgment based upon technical expertise.
Salary: $54,186 - $99,115 DOQ**

** The hiring department will consider applicants for the GIS Programmer Specialist I or II level, depending on qualifications and experience.
To Qualify
Minimum Qualifications. Applicants must:
- Have a valid Bachelor's degree in computer science, geography, engineering, planning, or a related field.
- Have 2-5 years of experience developing in a GIS environment and considerable knowledge of Microsoft Windows and Windows Server including IIS, geodatabases, SQL for Oracle, Esri ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Server, ArcGIS Online and Portal, JavaScript, CSS, HTML, and ArcSDE including Python.
- Have experience in the development and implementation of GIS related user training.
- Be able to communicate clearly and concisely, orally and in writing.
Desirable Qualifications. Preferred applicants:
- Have considerable ability to use map scales, map projections, coordinate systems and datums, information systems including databases, operating systems, and application development tools.
- Have basic skills in programming such as flow-charting, object-oriented design, and debugging code.
- Are able to troubleshoot and correct application errors and data integrity issues.
