Summary
The Lee Health Physical Therapy Orthopedic Residency Program is a great opportunity for physical therapists to advance their knowledge and develop their clinical skills in the area of orthopedic physical therapy. The residency program is designed to prepare residents to become successful orthopedic clinical specialists committed to enhancing the quality of patient care and improving the life and mobility of individuals in the community.
The program runs for 13 consecutive months. In the program, residents receive advanced clinical education and training in the management of patients with neuromusculoskeletal conditions:extremities (shoulder, elbow, wrist, hand, hip, knee, ankle, foot)
spine (cervical, thoracic, lumbar/sacroiliac)

The residency combines didactic work with clinical work to encourage the development of advanced levels of clinical reasoning, diagnostic skills, scientific knowledge, leadership, communication, and patient management. The residency is designed to develop orthopedic physical therapists with exposure to a diverse patient population and a variety of educational settings. Resident will begin employment as salaried, full-time employees on September 1
Residents rotate through three large outpatient locations
Residents are exposed to diverse orthopedic diagnoses
Residents attend Lee Healths LEEdership Institute, organizational development and leadership classes Applications
All candidates for the Physical Therapy Orthopedic Residency Program must have attained Florida licensure before beginning the residency program. Ideal applicants will have experience in orthopedics (through work or student internships), superior written and verbal communication skills, evidence of leadership skills, and a desire to improve and learn.
