The role you'll contribute:

Supervises staff and department activities that provide service to all patients. Responsible for the efficiency, effectiveness and utilization of the procedural area, personnel and equipment. Maintains a smooth and cost-effective patient flow. Serves as administrative liaison to patients and physicians. Accountable for tracking patient charges and maintaining various records of documentation. Responsible for oversight of inventory management and supplies. Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.

  • Practices the principles of universal body substance isolation and enforces safety regulations according to hospital policies on a continual basis. Continually delivers quality diagnostic, therapeutic and interventional patient care services. Practices and enforces safety guidelines. Performs Quality Control as needed
  • Plans, develops, and coordinates department activities in the most effective way. Supports and enforces policy and procedure. Ensures safety of self, staff, physicians and patients. Manages time and equipment effectively and works as a team member to provide the best possible care to the patient. Receives assignments, instructions, and guidance from Manager or Director and is compliant with special requests as situations dictate
  • Keeps Manager or Director informed and seeks assistance and direction from appropriate individuals when confronted with unfamiliar procedures and techniques, before implementing them, to ensure deliverance of safe and effective patient care. Communicates and collaborates with multidisciplinary team to ensure high quality patient care. Maintains a professional relationship with all customers
  • Maintains the confidentiality of employees, patients, administration, and medical staff information with no infractions. Communicates with patients and family members appropriate to age and instructs them in techniques to optimize their care in the hospital, as well as after discharge
  • Assists Manager or Director in meeting department budgetary goals. Assists Manager or Director in creating budget plans for respective areas of responsibility. Effectively recruits and oversees the training and orientation of new employees
  • Ensures appropriate daily and on-call staffing, managing lab labor expenses in accordance with department budget. Collaborates with campuses as needed to assist with resource needs. Adjusts/Resolved complaints, concerns, and problems of supervised employees regarding work assignment, hours of work, overtime scheduling, and other work related issues
  • Exhibits desire to learn and upgrade clinical and leadership skills. Performs other duties as assigned or directed to ensure the smooth operation of the department or unit
  • May perform waived and/or non-waived Point of Care Testing. If performing non-waived Point of Care Testing, as defined by the state of the facility, must have approved competency and documented proof (copy of either diploma or transcript, at the highest level of academic achievement) at the time of the facility non-waived Point of Care training
  • Supports and assists with data collection for process improvement while understanding the department performance trends and established standards. Contributes and encourages others to contribute toward process improvement by serving on teams as assigned. Participates in department and patient satisfaction initiatives. Utilizes patient service recovery resources when appropriate.
Qualifications

The expertise and experiences you'll need to succeed:

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: REQUIRED:

Three years of experience as an

  • Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer or
  • Exercise Physiologist or
  • Registered Nurse

PREFERRED:

  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing, Healthcare Management, Exercise physiology or a related field

REQUIRED:

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Advance Cardiac Life Support (ACLS). PALS preferred
  • Current, valid state license as a Registered Nurse (RN), OR
  • Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer must possess two of the following registry certification combinations as defined by the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) or the Cardiac Credentialing International (CCI):
    • Adult Echocardiography plus Pediatric Echocardiography,
    • Adult Echocardiography plus Vascular Ultrasound,
    • Adult Echocardiography plus Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS),
    • Adult Echocardiography plus Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS),

AND:

  • Pediatric Echocardiography
  • Registered Pediatric Technologist (RDCS, PE),
  • Registered Vascular Sonographer (RCCS)

OR

  • Vascular Ultrasound
  • Adult Echocardiography plus Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT),
  • Adult Echocardiography plus Registered Vascular Sonographer (RVS)
  • Exercise Physiologist do not require any additional certification, licensure, or registry besides BLS
