Our client, an award-winning and highly rated full-service Architectural, Engineering, and Interior Design firm in St. Petersburg, Florida, is seeking an experienced Electrical Construction Administrator to join their growing team. This firm has been recognized as a Fast 50 Company by the Tampa Bay Business Journal and has over 37 years of experience delivering high-quality design solutions for both public and private sector clients, with a focus on Healthcare, Senior Living, Multifamily, Retail, and Community projects.
Role Overview
The Electrical Construction Administrator serves as the primary liaison between the firm, owner, and contractor during the construction phase. This role is responsible for overseeing all aspects of multiple projects, from pre-construction through substantial completion and closeout.
Key tasks include attending construction meetings, reviewing field conditions, preparing Engineers Field Reports, processing ASIs, reviewing/responding to RFIs, reviewing shop drawings and submittals, coordinating between consultants and contractors, and resolving on-site issues in a timely manner.
Responsibilities
- Manage and respond to RFIs, review submittals, shop drawings, and electrical drawings.
- Interpret complex contract documents (plans, specifications, shop drawings).
- Apply working knowledge of construction processes, contract documents, building and electrical codes.
- Attend, lead, and coordinate site meetings across multiple projects.
- Develop and issue construction documents as needed.
- Document and evaluate construction progress, maintain accurate project records.
- Coordinate project schedules with internal departments and ensure deadlines are met.
- Assist contractors with interpretation of contract documents and evaluate change orders.
- Prepare deficiency reports and ensure compliance with design and construction regulations.
- Monitor contractor drawings, installations, and applications for payment.
- Ensure adherence to company safety requirements.
- Oversee projects from concept to implementation, including closeout punch lists.
- Streamline the RFI process and coordinate administrative procedures on site.
- Track and manage change orders and owner communications.
- Keep current with organizational and business development updates.
Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of fundamental electrical principles.
- In-depth understanding of National Electrical Code (NEC) and related regulations.
- Experience with multi-family, healthcare, ALF/ILF/Senior Living projects.
- Proven experience reviewing plans for constructability.
- Ability to read and interpret complex contract documents and shop drawings.
- Familiarity with Building, Plumbing, Fire, Energy Conservation, NEC, and Fuel Gas Codes.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of prioritizing workload effectively.
- Excellent verbal, written, and graphic communication skills.
- Ability to travel to job sites (by car or plane).
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Project).
- Strong organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills.
- Florida Special Inspector certification with Threshold Inspection experience is a plus.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
