The Work You Will Do:

Shop Clerk / District 6 / North Dade Shop

This position will enter and maintain records of work orders in Florida Electronic Equipment Tracking (FLEET) System using the correct coding and description for each repair. Communicate and coordinate with the auto shop personnel to ensure accuracy of work order data. Ensure all work orders are opened and closed in a timely manner. Track vehicle downtime and ensure work order system reflects actual vehicle status. Work closely with Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) Shop Personnel and assist in performing quality control activities. Assist in developing and implementing ways of improving the overall performance of the auto shop and customer satisfaction. Assist in monitoring and inspecting administrative requirements of the auto shop. Actively participate in meetings held with auto shop personnel and management as necessary.

Annual Salary Range:

$36,408.11 - $47,116.38

A Competitive Area Differential (CAD) additive in the amount of $1,268.80 will be added to the annual salary.

Your Specific Responsibilities:

Enter and maintain records of work orders in Florida Electronic Equipment Tracking (FLEET) System using the correct coding and description for each repair. Communicate and coordinate with the auto shop personnel to ensure accuracy of work order data. Ensure all work orders are opened and closed in a timely manner. Track vehicle downtime and ensure work order system reflects actual vehicle status.

Work closely with Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) Shop Personnel and assist in performing quality control activities. Assist in developing and implementing ways of improving the overall performance of the auto shop and customer satisfaction. Assist in monitoring and inspecting administrative requirements of the auto shop. Actively participate in meetings held with auto shop personnel and management as necessary.

Prepare and update preventative maintenance schedules for vehicles and equipment based on the FLEET System. Contact and inform operators and supervisors of preventative maintenance schedules. Communicate and coordinate on a daily basis with the Maintenance Management System (MMS) section and crew supervisors to ensure that all “down” equipment reported in MMS has an appropriate shop work order.

Maintain motor vehicle logs. Ensure that appropriate record keeping of Department of Transportation motor vehicle usage is conducted on a monthly basis. Notify and obtain vehicle use information for all vehicles within the cost center on a monthly basis. Record operator of vehicle and file any signed gas receipts for each vehicle in the log. Update log sheets for each vehicle into keymaster on a monthly basis.

Ensure on-site fuel pumps are operating at all times. Coordinate the repair of fuel pumps, monitor fuel supply levels and maintain daily records of all gas/diesel readings in the Fuel Inventory Program. Changes the fuel pump receipt tape paper rolls as needed.

Track and disburse vehicles from the equipment pool to employees. Sign for/receive new equipment when delivered in the absence of the FDOT Management.

Provide support in the annual inventory process by locating and scanning assigned property and equipment.

Other Job-Related Requirements:

  • Responsible for adhering to the provisions and requirements of Section 215.422,F.S., related State Comptroller’s rules, and Department of Transportation’s invoice processing and warrant distribution procedures.
  • The incumbent of this position is required to work around Department of Corrections inmates.
  • Utilize business plans as an integral part of daily work activities in support of the Department’s/Unit Plans to accomplish the mission of the Department.
  • On an as-needed basis may be required during periods of emergency and/or disaster recovery upon request by appropriate authority, to work beyond established work schedule at night and/or state-wide, including weekends; Overnight travel may be required for statewide meetings, training, conferences or seminars.
  • DURING A DECLARED EMERGENCY EVENT, THE INCUMBENT WILL BE REQUIRED TO ASSIST THE DISTRICT AS NEEDED.

  • High School Diploma or Certificate of High School Equivalency.
