Overview
The Staff Accountant is responsible for maintaining financial records, preparing reports, and performing general accounting functions to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting. This role supports monthly closings, general ledger reconciliations, and compliance with internal controls and company policies.

Duties and Responsibilities
- Prepare journal entries, account reconciliations, and month-end close processes
- Assist in the preparation of financial statements and internal reports
- Maintain the general ledger and chart of accounts
- Reconcile bank statements and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner
- Support accounts payable and receivable processes as needed
- Assist with payroll entries and benefits reconciliations
- Maintain fixed asset schedules and depreciation calculations
- Participate in audits by preparing supporting documentation
- Monitor and enforce financial policies, procedures, and internal controls
- Identify and suggest process improvements to enhance accuracy and efficiency
- Support special projects and perform ad hoc analysis as requested
Required Skills and Abilities
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite, Sage, etc.)
- Advanced Excel skills (e.g., pivot tables, vlookups)
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
Education Background and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 1–3 years of accounting experience preferred
- Strong understanding of GAAP and accounting principles
Physical Demands (To include but not limited to)
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk or workstation.
- Occasional standing or walking within the office or shop, such as attending meetings, retrieving documents, or interacting with customers or employees.
- Occasionally lifting and carrying items, typically weighing up to 10-20 pounds.
- Frequent use of fingers and hands for typing, writing, and operating a computer.
- Using telephones, printers, copiers, and other office tools.
- Frequent need to focus on printed or digital material.
- Reviewing financial documents, schedules, or customer data with accuracy.
- Regular communication with customers, vendors, and team members, either in person, on the phone, or via video conferencing.
- Engaging with customers in person or over the phone, sometimes requiring extended periods of active listening and problem-solving.
- Prolonged exposure to hot or cold temperatures.
- Mild noise from office machines or nearby shop areas if the office is adjacent to the workshop. PPE may be required while walking through the shop.
- Moving around the office or between departments, sometimes requiring the ability to climb stairs.
- Safely operate a motor vehicle.
