Manufacturing Plant Buyer

SUMMARY

The Manufacturing Plant Buyer position is an hourly position, and reports to the Plant Controller. The employee is the process expert for all plant purchases and storeroom procedures, is accountable for procuring MRO supplies and data management (i.e. credit cards, inventory control, SAP, etc.).

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

• Procures MRO supplies and data management, (i.e. credit cards, inventory control, SAP, etc.).
• Performs supplier requisitions for vendor managed, online safety purchases, operating supplies, mill supplies, and related.
• Communicates Storeroom issues to management, vendors, and/or employees.
• Practices safe vehicle driving in facility.
• Acts as management, customer, and supplier liaison which includes assistance with supplier and/or customer complaints, supplier networking, etc.
• Orders and retrieves products from local vendors in our surrounding area
• Uses fork lift and other related material handling machinery.
• Invoice kick out and price updates
• Master/Data and code creation
• Consignment update and inventory control
• Purchase order creation (Info record source list)
• Data Management
• Vendor Requisitions
• Other duties as assigned

• Must possess strong communication and organizational skills
• Must possess a valid driver license and maintain a safe driving record
• Must have the ability to multi-task
• Must have strong internal and external customer service skills
• Must work well in team environment
• Must be able to work independently
• Must have to ability to do basic mathematical calculations
• Must be able to secure and maintain fork lift certification

COMPUTER AND SOFTWARE COMPENTENCIES

The employee must be able to:

• Operate a computer or other keyboard instrument
• Be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
• Become proficient in SAP Sourcing systems

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

The employee should have the following:

• Minimum high school diploma or equivalent is required
• 2+ years of manufacturing plant buying experience is required
• Related experience and/or training in an industrial environment
• Must be a US Citizen
• Must be 18 years or older
• Must be drug and alcohol free

This position requires:

• Regular attendance on site and the ability to work varying hours :
• Exposure to hot/cold temperature- continuously

• Lifting/carrying/moving up to 50 pounds

• Walking - occasionally
• Hand/Eye Coordination- continuously
• Wrist motion (repetitive flexion/rotation) - continuously
