Job Summary
T h e Assembly Technician is responsible for assembling residential gas meters in a manufacturing environment. This role involves performing repetitive mechanical assembly tasks requiring precision, dexterity, and attention to detail to meet production pace and quality standards. The technician works within a structured process, following detailed instructions and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.
Job Description
- Assemble gas meters and related components for residential use
- Perform repetitive mechanical assembly tasks with precision and consistency
- Follow all workplace safety policies and product quality standards
- Complete all required site-specific safety and quality training
- Receive and assemble components in a programmed sequence
- Assemble and/or test mechanical and basic electrical components
- Follow detailed assembly instructions (e.g., color coding, PVC thermal welding, thread taping)
- Use simple hand and power tools, along with basic jigs and fixtures
- Read and interpret simple assembly drawings and layouts
- Record work hours in ERP systems (e.g., SAP), as required
- Complete production-related documentation accurately
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives, including 5S and housekeeping audits
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area
- Support internal and external customer expectations
- Shift: 6:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.
Skills Required
- 3–5 years of relevant experience in manufacturing, assembly, or mechanical work (preferred)
- Mechanical aptitude demonstrated through work experience, technical education, or hands-on activities (required)
- Ability to follow detailed instructions and standardized processes
- Strong hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity
- Basic computer skills (ERP systems such as SAP preferred)
- Ability to use hand tools, power tools, and basic assembly fixtures
- Effective communication skills (verbal and written)
- Ability to sit, stand, see, and hear continuously
- Frequent walking, writing, and basic computer use
- Ability to lift and carry up to 30 pounds
- Ability to climb stairs and perform occasional bending, reaching, pushing, and pulling
- Ability to communicate clearly in both verbal and written forms
Education
- High school diploma or GED r equired.
Pay Rate
- $18.30 - $20.30 per hour (Compensation will be offered within this posted range based on experience, skills, and market factors)
