Estimator – Commercial Construction Trades

Direct Hire Opportunity with Superior Skilled Trades
Location: Tampa–Fort Myers Region
Employment Type: Full-Time
Base Salary: $70,000–$80,000 (based on experience and overall fit)

Position Summary

Superior Skilled Trades is partnering with a well-established commercial construction subcontractor to hire a motivated and detail-oriented Estimator. This company provides a full range of interior and exterior services including plastering, drywall, framing, specialty finishes, and related scopes.

This role will support the full preconstruction lifecycle—from identifying bid opportunities through estimate preparation and project handoff. It’s an excellent opportunity for a high-potential early career professional or junior estimator who is eager to grow into a senior estimating role within a full-service trade contractor.

Key Responsibilities

• Independently identify and pursue bidding opportunities

• Conduct site visits and pre-bid walkthroughs as needed

• Perform quantity takeoffs using OnCenter and QuickBid

• Develop detailed and accurate cost estimates covering labor, materials, equipment, and subcontracted scopes

• Review construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents to fully understand project scope

• Prepare and submit complete bid proposals, including scope narratives, assumptions, and clarifications

• Participate in internal scope reviews and bid strategy discussions

• Support project handoff to operations and project management teams, clearly communicating scope, assumptions, and budget structure

• Maintain organized estimating files, historical cost data, and takeoff records

• Continuously improve estimating processes, tools, and assemblies

Primary Scopes of Work

• Drywall

• Framing

• Plaster / Stucco

• Specialty finishes

• Waterproofing and related building envelope scopes

• Additional interior and exterior specialty scopes as required

Qualifications

• Degree in Construction Management, Construction Engineering, or a related field preferred, or equivalent industry experience

• 2–5 years of estimating or construction-related experience

  • Background in drywall, framing, plaster, stucco, or similar trades preferred

• Strong computer-based takeoff and estimating skills or aptitude

• Experience with or willingness to learn OnCenter, QuickBid, and Microsoft Excel

• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications

• Highly organized with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple bids simultaneously

• Willingness to travel to project sites as needed

Work Environment & Territory

• Office-based role with travel to job sites as required

• Territory includes Tampa, Fort Myers, and surrounding markets
