Royal Caribbean Group’s IT Architecture Team has an exciting career opportunity for a full time Lead Architect, Application Platforms reporting to the Senior Manager, Technical Product.

This role will work on-site in Miramar, Florida.

Position Summary:

The Lead Architect – Application Platforms is responsible for Architecture and technical leadership in our Enterprise Architecture(EA) team, which works on enterprise-wide initiatives. The Enterprise Architect is responsible for technology architecture roadmaps, design, and technical leadership for the various projects, with an SME ownership for architecture functions in multiple areas of application platform (network, data center, systems, DB, middleware etc.) and help architect application deployment to the on-premise data centers and cloud IaaS/PaaS/SaaS platforms.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Provide Technical architecture and guidance to management as it relates to various enterprise IT systems
• Provide platform architecture, roadmaps and designs for application runtimes that encompasses network, systems, middleware, database and cloud IaaS/PaaS/SaaS services (AWS, Azure, GCP, OCI)
• Create reference architecture artifacts
• Evaluate Application Portfolios and develop modernization portfolios and strategy
• Work closely with application, server and operations teams, effectively communicating and managing customer expectations
• Provide enterprise architecture technical leadership for global initiatives and implementation collaboration with project and operations teams.
• Identify opportunities to innovate, extend and enhance service delivery in the SME areas
• Serves as escalation point for system administration hands on work in the SME areas
• Hands on R & D work for evaluating new technologies
• Serves as escalation point for support and troubleshooting, provides guidance and direction in resolution of escalated application or system problems.
• Create and maintain system documentation for solution design, domain technologies
• Improve existing processes through solutions to recurring problems and enhancements to existing solutions or documentation.
• Strong technical leadership and communications skills including teamwork, facilitation, and coordination to ensure successful creation of roadmaps

Qualifications:

• 15+ years of experience with IT architecture, data centers, middleware, database and cloud IaaS/PaaS/SaaS services in a large enterprise.
• Bachelor’s degree required, with an MS/MBA or other relevant advanced degree preferred

Knowledge and Skills:

• Experience with application & middleware technology family of products
• Architecture and design experience with application platform implementations
• Experience in DevOps, DevSecOps and Application Performance Management implementations
• Platform design and implementation experience with projects that encompass digital, webservices, microservices, API gateways etc.
• Experience with docker/container platforms that includes Kubernetes, etc.
• Experience in administering messaging solutions that include Confluent Kafka, etc.
• Strong knowledge of operating systems and virtualization technologies
• Experience with middleware clustering and load balancing
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Azure, AWS, GCP, OCI
• Proficiency in project estimations, capacity planning, and availability planning
• Documentation and development of processes and procedures.
• Experienced in managing 100+ applications.
• Automation and Scripting experience
• Experience as team lead or architect
• Experience with Architecture frameworks like Zachman, FEA, TOGAF, MODAF/DODAF

Work Environment:

• Able to travel 25%
