Histotechnologist I - PRN - Pathology - Bayfront Hospital
- Performs basic histotechnology staining techniques.
- Operates computerized equipment for processing and staining specimens.
- Uses the laboratory computer system to add, cancel, and verify completed orders.
- Performs and documents quality control and preventive maintenance procedures.
- Troubleshoots instruments, processing, and staining processes.
- Places engineering and biomed service requests as needed.
- Prepares stock and working reagents and maintains an adequate supply.
- Receives and processes specimens, answers the telephone, and greets guests to the department.
- Reports all unacceptable quality control and instrument failures to a senior technologist, pathology coordinator, manager,
- Assumes at least one of the following responsibilities outside facility frozen section room maintenance, projects, teaching, tech
- Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state
- Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures
- Associate’s degree required. Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Graduate from an approved school of Histotechnology is required.
- Maintains a current Florida license as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist (Qualification Histology Technologist).
- Certified as a Histotechnician (HT) or Histotechnologist (HTL), or eligible for either certification through a professional laboratory
