Phlebotomist
Phlebotomist (Temporary with the potential to go full time)
Location: Milton, FL
Pay: $18–$20/hour (based on experience)
Position Summary
We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Phlebotomist to join a busy medical clinic in Milton, Florida. The ideal candidate will have at least one year of hands-on phlebotomy experience and a strong commitment to patient care, accuracy, and professionalism. This role supports both clinical and laboratory operations and plays a key part in delivering high-quality patient services.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform venipuncture and capillary blood draws on patients of all ages
- Properly label, process, and prepare specimens for laboratory testing
- Follow all safety, infection control, and HIPAA guidelines
- Verify patient identity and explain procedures clearly and professionally
- Maintain accurate documentation in the EMR system
- Ensure specimens are stored, handled, and transported correctly
- Assist with patient flow and basic clinical support as needed
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
Qualifications
- Minimum 1 year of professional phlebotomy experience required
- High school diploma or GED required
- Phlebotomy certification preferred (CPT, NCPT, or equivalent)
- Experience with pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients strongly preferred
- Knowledge of lab safety standards and specimen handling procedures
- Strong communication, customer service, and time management skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team

At least one year of phlebotomy experience
* Dispose of blood or other biohazard fluids or tissue, in accordance with applicable laws, standards, or policies.* Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes.
* Draw blood from veins by vacuum tube, syringe, or butterfly venipuncture methods.
* Organize or clean blood-drawing trays, ensuring that all instruments are sterile and all needles, syringes, or related items are of first-time use.
* Dispose of contaminated sharps, in accordance with applicable laws, standards, and policies.
* Draw blood for tests, transfusions, donations, or research. May explain the procedure to patients and assist in the recovery of patients with adverse reactions.
* Conduct standards tests, such as blood alcohol, blood culture, oral glucose tolerance, glucose screening, blood smears, or peak and trough drug levels tests.
* Collect specimens at specific time intervals for tests, such as those assessing therapeutic drug levels.
* Process blood or other fluid samples for further analysis by other medical professionals.
* Provide sample analysis results to physicians to assist diagnosis.
* Enter patient, specimen, insurance, or billing information into computer.
* Document route of specimens from collection to laboratory analysis and diagnosis.
* Draw blood from capillaries by dermal puncture, such as heel or finger stick methods.
* Conduct hemoglobin tests to ensure donor iron levels are normal.
* Transport specimens or fluid samples from collection sites to laboratories.
* Collect fluid or tissue samples, using appropriate collection procedures.
* Calibrate or maintain machines, such as those used for plasma collection.
* Determine donor suitability, according to interview results, vital signs, and medical history.
* Administer subcutaneous or intramuscular injects, in accordance with licensing restrictions.
* Perform saline flushes or dispense anticoagulant drugs, such as Heparin, through intravenous (IV) lines, in accordance with licensing restrictions and under the direction of a medical doctor.
