Overview

A leading engineering organization is seeking a highly skilled Senior Civil and Structural Engineer to take ownership of advanced structural design, analysis, and project leadership across a diverse portfolio of industrial and energy related projects. This senior level role is ideal for an experienced engineer who excels in solving complex structural challenges, guiding multidisciplinary teams, and ensuring technical excellence from concept through final delivery.

As a senior contributor, you will play a key part in shaping project approaches, overseeing design quality, mentoring junior engineers, and representing the engineering function in customer and supplier discussions. This position offers an opportunity to influence long term technical strategies while delivering impactful, high performing solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee the structural engineering design and analysis of steel structures, support systems, equipment foundations, and concrete structures
• Perform complex structural calculations, review advanced analysis models, and ensure full compliance with applicable codes and standards
• Review and approve engineering packages, drawings, calculations, and technical deliverables prepared by junior and mid level engineers
• Interpret and integrate detailed technical requirements from clients, suppliers, and internal engineering groups
• Lead the preparation of technical documentation for project proposals, bids, and commercial evaluations
• Evaluate customer specifications and prepare comprehensive technical clarifications, deviation responses, and compliance matrices
• Develop and review engineering budgets, estimates, scopes of work, and project execution plans
• Drive schedule planning for structural deliverables and monitor progress to ensure on time project completion
• Coordinate with suppliers to secure accurate technical data, pricing, and material specifications
• Ensure alignment of structural layout, foundation design, and interface requirements across all engineering disciplines
• Lead root cause analysis efforts and implement corrective actions to reduce nonconformances and improve quality
• Serve as a primary engineering representative in meetings with clients, contractors, and project partners
• Provide mentorship, technical guidance, and professional development support to junior and mid level team members
• Ensure all work is completed in accordance with industry standards, safety requirements, and internal quality processes

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering required; Master’s degree in Structural Engineering preferred
• Minimum 8 to 12 years of experience in civil and structural engineering with a focus on industrial or energy related projects
• Professional Engineer (PE) license required
• Expert level knowledge of applicable codes and standards including ASCE 7, IBC, AISC 360, ACI 318, OSHA; familiarity with AISC 341, ACI 351, DIN 4024, ISO 1940 is beneficial
• Demonstrated experience leading engineering teams, managing complex technical tasks, and overseeing project deliverables
• Proven ability to interface directly with clients, suppliers, and cross functional engineering teams
• Strong analytical, communication, and problem solving skills
• Ability to travel up to 10 percent

Preferred Software Expertise

• Smart Plant 3D and Revit experience with integrated 3D model development and detailed extraction
• STAAD, SAP2000, and GT STRUDL proficiency for advanced structural modeling and analysis
• AutoCAD and MicroStation experience for preparation and review of 2D structural drawings
