Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Deaf Education, active DHH teaching certification, and 1+ years Teacher of the Deaf / Hard of Hearing experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
A full-time opportunity is available for an experienced Teacher specializing in Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) students to support a K-12 educational setting in Spring Hill, FL. This position is focused on serving a diverse student population across multiple grade levels within Sumter County and offers a contract appointment for the uping school year.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver specialized instruction and support to students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing, addressing varied academic and munication needs.
- Manage and engage a caseload prising mixed ages and student populations within the 37.5-hour workweek.
- Collaborate with educational teams, families, and support staff to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs).
- Adapt teaching methods and materials to meet the developmental, social, and linguistic needs of students.
- Monitor and assess student progress, providing reports and remendations based on observed outes.
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Certification or licensure as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing.
- Experience working with K-12 students in inclusive or specialized settings.
- Strong understanding of munication modes such as American Sign Language (ASL), auditory-verbal techniques, or other relevant methods.
- Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams.
- Flexibility and dedication to serve a mixed-age caseload effectively.
