Who we are looking for / Requirements:
We are seeking a Salesforce Data Engineer to own the end-to-end Salesforce data lifecycle within our modern data platform. This role is responsible for ingestion (Airbyte), orchestration (Prefect), transformation (dbt), and ongoing BAU support to ensure reliable, well-modeled, and governed Salesforce data for analytics and downstream applications.

• Strong experience working with Salesforce core objects (Accounts, Opportunities, Leads, Contacts, etc.).
• Hands-on experience with Salesforce APIs and SOQL.
• Experience building and maintaining data ingestion pipelines (Airbyte preferred).
• Strong orchestration experience using Prefect.
• Advanced DBT modeling experience (staging, intermediate, marts)
• Strong SQL skills (Snowflake or Postgres).
• Experience with ELT best practices and analytics engineering principles.
• Ability to troubleshoot, triage, and resolve production data issues.
• Understanding of data governance, PII handling, and access controls.
• Experience working in Git-based version control and CI/CD environments.
• Strong stakeholder communication and intake management skills.
• Ability to operate independently in a remote environment.

Nice to Have:

• Python for automation/utilities.
• Knowledge of Salesforce metadata, change sets, and schema evolution.
• Experience improving data observability and testing coverage.

Performance Objectives / What you'll be doing:

• Provide daily BAU support for Salesforce-related data requests and incidents across the Data Engineering team.
• Triage, debug, and resolve issues related to Salesforce data pipelines, models, and data loads.
• Investigate and document Salesforce objects, relationships, and schema changes impacting downstream systems.
• Validate referential integrity, deduplication, and conformance of core Salesforce entities (Accounts, Opportunities, Leads, Contacts, etc.).
• Configure, schedule, monitor, and troubleshoot Airbyte syncs for Salesforce objects.
• Build, operate, and maintain Prefect flows for Salesforce data uploads and transformations.
• Implement retries, alerting, and logging to ensure reliable, idempotent pipeline execution and observability.
• Develop and maintain dbt models (staging, intermediate, and marts) with proper documentation and lineage.
• Enforce data testing standards (unique, not_null, accepted_values) and maintain coding best practices.
• Optimize dbt performance using appropriate materializations, partitions, and incremental models.
• Monitor daily pipeline health (Airbyte and Prefect) and resolve failures or reruns as needed.
• Investigate Salesforce schema updates (new fields, picklist changes) and assess downstream impact.
• Troubleshoot Salesforce data uploads and transformation issues.
• Perform root-cause analysis on production issues and implement preventive fixes.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for Salesforce-related data requests from stakeholders.
• Gather requirements, define acceptance criteria, and communicate timelines and risks.
• Sync with Salesforce admins/architects on upcoming org changes and release impacts.
• Ensure data accuracy, completeness, and consistency across systems.
• Follow governance standards for PII handling, access controls, and auditability.
