As a Bilingual Merchandising Manager, you will effectively manage part of the salaried merchandising team in achieving weekly gross profit goals and budgets, as well as implement sound merchandising strategies with our independent retailers. This role is also responsible for managing merchandising support staff to ensure proper procedures and job responsibilities are completed successfully.
Full-Time, Remote with potential to be Hybrid
You will contribute by:
- Managing teams to maximize bill-out through alternative sourcing, margin controls, flat fees, and forward buys.
- Overseeing Senior Merchandisers and the merchandising team on vendor issues, credit requests, paybacks, funding tracking, and related tasks.
- Collaborating with teams to achieve KPI goals for both the team and individual members as set by the Department Director.
- Reviewing price changes for Grocery, Candy, and Frozen within your team for accuracy; ensuring forward buys are optimized and merchandising remains competitive.
- Managing personnel in the merchandising department, including both hourly and salaried employees.
- Negotiating and managing vendor contracts to generate a steady income stream for the division.
- Assisting with hiring, training, and performance evaluations; coaching, mentoring, and supporting staff development.
- Attending Business Reviews with the Director or VP of the department.
- Managing and executing special projects assigned by senior management.
- Traveling occasionally, approximately 10% of the year, including food shows and visits to the corporate office.
We’re searching for candidates with:
- Understanding of core competencies in the wholesale model and ability to manage others
- Knowledge of commodities and their business impact
- Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills
- Strong negotiation, organization, prioritization, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to set and communicate direction clearly
- Ability to multi-task effectively
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Awareness of the needs of multicultural customers in South Florida
- 5-7 years of relevant business/functional experience
- Willingness and ability to travel as needed
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) is required
