Official Records Services Entry Level Clerk
Overview
The Official Records Services office maintains the official records of the County. The office is paperless and the clerks work from scanned images of the original documents which are returned to the document originator at the time of recording. Additionally, the office provides an eRecording service where a customer can record documents without leaving their office. The service requires the use of a third party vendor who, for a fee, provides various quality control reviews prior to sending the document to Recording to be recorded. Why work for us? Position Function and Duties
This position is responsible for performing entry level tasks to achieve desired business objectives of Official Records Services (ORS). The Official Records Services Entry Clerk is responsible for efficiently and effectively processing documents presented for recording into the Official Records. All functions are performed in accordance with ORS policies, procedures, and guidelines with ample direction and/or supervision. Position Duties include but are not limited to:
- Responsible for ensuring customer service is a high priority and that customers are treated courteously
- Handle payments accurately and securely
- Accurately balance cash drawer at the beginning and end of each shift
- Accurately and timely accept and process document types brought or sent to ORS
- Become and/or perform duties as a Notary Public of the State of Florida
- Maintain knowledge of duties and requirements to ensure compliance with the Notary Laws of the State of Florida
- Navigate Intranet, LeeClerk.org and Kiosk station
- Meet expected performance measures accurately and timely
- Issue Marriage Licenses and perform Marriage Ceremonies
- Ensure compliance with Florida Statutes; Records Management Policies, Guidelines and Procedures; and Best Practices
Qualifications
Education, Experience & Certification(s):
- High School diploma or equivalent required
- Two years of clerical experience or any combination of education and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the position duties
- Two years of cash handling experience required
- Two years customer service experience required
- Accurate keyboarding and data entry skills required
- Proficiency in business English and business math required
- Good organizational skills and attention to detail required
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
- Effective interpersonal skills, strong work ethic and professional demeanor are required
- Use tact in sensitive situations, maintain confidentiality of restricted files, and maintain a courteous attitude toward the public at all times
- Demonstrate proficiency with operations and general care of the PC and printers required
- Ability to work independently and handle routine items under minimum supervision
- Ability to work extended hours

Physical Requirements:
- Office: Majority of the time is spent sitting at the computer, remainder of the time is spent assisting in other functions
- Work from Home (if applicable): Majority of the time is spent sitting at the computer
- This position requires clear verbal interaction with employees, the public and agencies
- This position may require bending and reaching
- This position may require going to other departments and/or offices on different floors and/or buildings throughout the day
- This position may require occasional travel to other sites to review products, or attend meetings, seminars or classes
- Ability to use standard office equipment
- Ability to lift up to 30 pounds
