Staff Accountant
Position Overview:
The Staff Accountant will prepare and maintain financial records to track the organization’s commercial assets, liabilities, profit and loss, tax liabilities, and other related financial activities to ensure accuracy, and resolves account discrepancies.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Maintain intricate knowledge of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles)
- Code invoices, set up new accounts, reconcile account payables accounts
- Process invoices and ensure payments are recorded so retainage is properly reflected
- Update accounts receivable, issue invoices, post payments and manage collections
- Find the root cause for why customers have not paid, resolve ,collect payment.
- Process payments received by check in our online banking system
- Input weekly subcontractor invoices into AP form and assign each line to project
- Enter deposits into Quickbooks and enter customer into CRM system (Fence 360)
- Create sales order for Jax commercial projects in SOS inventory by scope
- Prepare AIA pay applications and lien releases
- Work with construction admin on commercial commission payments once payments ha ve been collected
- Partner with construction admin on labor allocation costs per job
- File tax forms and facilitate related payments for federal, state and local governments
- Support the external audit process through gathering necessary account information and documents required by the auditors
- Investigate and resolve audit findings, account discrepancies and issues of non-compliance
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or a related field
- 1 – 3 years of experience in a general accounting role
- Experience with construction accounting, ASC 606 revenue recognition, contracts, inventory, job costing, and AIA billing highly desirable
- 1+ years of experience using Quickbooks Online
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Attention to detail and emphasis on accuracy
- Strong time management skills along with ability to meet deadlines
- Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word)
