HR & Benefits Coordinator
This person is responsible for managing and administering the organization’s employee benefits programs, wellness initiatives, and general HR responsibilities. This role ensures compliance with applicable laws, maintains accurate records, and provides guidance to employees regarding benefits, policy interpretation, unemployment, and leave areas. Bilingual Spanish is necessary, Creole a plus.
Key Responsibilities
- Administer all employee benefit programs, including health, dental, vision, life insurance, disability, retirement plans, and wellness programs.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for employee benefits inquiries and resolve issues in a timely and professional manner.
- Manage benefit enrollment, changes, and terminations in HRIS systems and with carriers.
- Maintain employee benefit files and ensure accuracy of data in HRIS/payroll systems.
- Assist in the development, communication, and implementation of benefits policies and company policies and procedures.
- Support HR leadership with benefit plan design, benchmarking, and vendor negotiations.
- Support recruitment.
- Handles all unemployment inquiries and appeals.
- Assists with new hire orientations.
Qualifications
- 4 + years of experience in benefits administration and HR generalist responsibilities.
- Knowledge of employee benefits laws and regulations (ERISA, ACA, HIPAA, COBRA, FMLA).
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to explain benefits to employees clearly.
- Bilingual Spanish, Creole a plus.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and HRIS systems, and Canva
- Creative thinking a plus.
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
