Schedule: Full-time, minimum 40-hour workweek with flexibility for evenings, weekends, and on-call responsibilities

Summary of Mandatory Qualifications:

  • Minimum five (5) years of Management experience, including at least three (3) years of Supervisory experience within a community-based or nonprofit organization
  • Master's degree preferred
  • Demonstrated success in fundraising, grant writing, public relations, and managing foundation and government grants/contracts
  • Experience working collaboratively with a large Board of Directors and community stakeholders
  • Strong financial management experience, including developing and overseeing agency budgets

About This Position

We are seeking a visionary, strategic, and community-focused Nonprofit President/CEO to lead 211 Broward. This executive leader will be responsible for the overall day-to-day management of the organization in alignment with policies established by the Board of Directors.

The Nonprofit President/CEO will bring inspirational leadership, operational excellence, and fiscal stewardship to the agency while strengthening partnerships throughout Broward County and South Florida. This role requires a dynamic professional who can oversee helpline operations and program services, expand fundraising efforts, enhance public visibility, and ensure long-term organizational sustainability.

The Nonprofit President/CEO reports directly to the Board of Directors through its Chair and serves as the primary ambassador of the organization within the community.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership

  • Provide professional guidance and strategic recommendations to the Board of Directors regarding objectives, policies, and long-term planning
  • Ensure the Board receives complete, accurate, and timely reports, including financial, audit, legal, and consultant updates
  • Develop and strengthen collaborations and partnerships throughout Broward County and the South Florida region
  • Plan and coordinate Board meetings, ensuring effective materials, accurate minutes, and productive discussions
  • Encourage full participation and consensus-building among Board members
  • Maintain professional rapport and regular communication with individual Board members
  • Keep the Board informed of challenges, progress, and emerging community issues

Fundraising and Public Relations

  • Develop and implement comprehensive fundraising strategies in consultation with the Board
  • Lead and execute a comprehensive public relations program
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with current and prospective donors and community partners
  • Oversee publications, press releases, reports, and external communications
  • Represent the organization at community meetings, civic events, and public forums
  • Oversee signature events planned by staff and committees
  • Actively seek speaking engagements and opportunities to advance the organization’s mission
  • Lead the organization’s government relations and public policy efforts, including advocacy, legislative engagement, and monitoring of relevant local, state, and federal issues

Organizational Management

  • Implement policies and directives adopted by the Board of Directors
  • Oversee hiring, training, supervision, evaluation, recognition, and compensation of staff
  • Direct volunteer utilization and engagement
  • Ensure appropriate use of professional advisors including auditors, legal counsel, and consultants
  • Conduct regular staff meetings to establish work plans, set goals, and review progress
  • Maintain complete and accurate organizational records and safeguard data integrity
  • Ensure compliance with contractual and funder requirements
  • Oversee agency property, asset management, maintenance, and security
  • Develop and manage the administrative and program budgets
  • Successfully complete the 211 Broward Helpline training program

Grants and Community Initiatives

  • Maintain awareness of Broward County community needs related to the agency’s mission
  • Communicate grant-making processes and procedures to the public and stakeholders
  • Administer grant-making functions under the direction of the Board
  • Proactively pursue partnerships with private and corporate foundations
  • Seek and manage grants, contracts, charitable gifts, and bequests to support operational and emerging community needs

Requirements

  • Five (5) years of management experience and three (3) years of supervisory experience required
  • Master's degree preferred
  • Demonstrated experience developing and implementing fundraising and public relations programs
  • Experience working with a large Board of Directors
  • Strong grant-writing and grant management experience
  • Experience managing foundation and government grants and contracts
  • Experience developing and managing agency budgets
  • Knowledge of nonprofit accounting and financial practices
  • Knowledge of human resource laws and practices
  • Knowledge of strategic and program planning and evaluation processes
  • Knowledge of available community resources in Broward County
  • Demonstrated computer proficiency
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of agency and client information
  • Ability to complete accurate reports in accordance with agency and funder guidelines
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to maximize time and coordinate resources
  • Professional demeanor and presentation at all times
  • Ability to transport oneself for agency business
  • Successful completion of background investigation and substance abuse testing
