Your Specific Responsibilities:

This is independent professional work conducting complex medical laboratory tests following established protocol and procedures.

Performs Amplified Gonorrhea-Chlamydia (GC-CT) testing using molecular methodology. This includes specimen accessioning and processing, reagent preparation, testing, data review, reporting, and instrument operation/maintenance, according to established procedures.

Performs screening and confirmatory testing for Syphilis Serology, and reports results.

Performs testing and reports results in Hepatitis and Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) departments.

Assists in the Microbiology and Parasitology departments.

Prepares and discards daily medical waste following Bureau of Laboratories Biowaste protocol. Attend staff meetings and required training. Always follows Bureau of Public Health Laboratories and Department of Health safety guidelines.

Performs other lab-related duties as required.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Knowledge of terminology, principles and techniques used in analysis and testing. Knowledge of procedures, techniques & equipment used in lab testing and analysis. Skill in the use of lab equipment. Ability to communicate effectively. Ability to work independently. Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments.

Qualifications:

Minimum: Medical Technologist or Public Health Licensure

Preferred: Bachelor of Science
