Position Summary:
We are seeking a reliable, detail-oriented, and safety-conscious Janitorial and Maintenance Services Technician to join our clients school system's Facilities team. This position plays a vital role in ensuring a clean, safe, and well-maintained environment for students, staff, and visitors across our district's educational buildings.
Key Responsibilities:
Janitorial Duties:
Clean and sanitize classrooms, restrooms, cafeterias, offices, gymnasiums, and other school facilities
Sweep, mop, vacuum, dust, and perform floor care (e.g., waxing and buffing)
Empty trash and recycling receptacles and replace liners
Refill supplies (e.g., soap, toilet paper, paper towels) as needed
Respond to spills or emergency cleanups promptly and professionally
Maintenance Duties:
Perform routine maintenance tasks such as replacing light bulbs, unclogging drains, and basic plumbing repairs
Conduct inspections of HVAC systems, fire extinguishers, and other safety equipment
Assist with seasonal maintenance tasks (e.g., snow removal, landscaping, minor painting)
Identify and report building damages, equipment failures, and potential safety hazards
Assist with event setups and breakdowns, including furniture moves and staging
Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED required
Prior experience in janitorial and/or building maintenance preferred
Ability to operate cleaning and maintenance equipment safely and effectively
Basic knowledge of electrical, plumbing, or carpentry a plus
Must pass a background check and required school district clearances
Must pass a drug test
This is a drug-free and smoke-free workplace
Ability to lift 50 lbs., bend, stoop, climb ladders, and perform physical labor
Strong attention to detail, time management, and problem-solving skills
Dependable, punctual, and able to work independently or as part of a team
