We are seeking a detail-oriented, dedicated Accounts Payable Assistant to join our Finance Team. The candidate will work directly with the Chief Financial Officer as directed in general operations of accounting.
Some responsibilities of the job include:
- Prepares and sorts documents and identifies and interprets accounting data.
- Enters alphabetic, numeric, or symbolic data from source documents into accounting software (Fund E-Z, Excel).
- Compiles, sorts and verifies data to be entered in Fund E-Z. Compares data entered with source documents using care to detect errors. Resolve questions regarding inconsistencies or missing data. Makes necessary corrections to information entered.
- Interacts with staff as appropriate.
- Process accounts payable invoices daily, ensuring that the coding is appropriate.
- Prepare annual 1099’s for filing
- Exports and transmits database as instructed.
- Assists the finance staff with routine accounting functions including but not limited to processing accounts payables and receivables, copying, filing, and sorting of financial documents.
- Prepares weekly payroll for apprentice programs.
- Maintains confidentiality of all information handled.
- Performs additional duties as assigned by the Chief Financial Officer according to business needs.
- Prepares transactions for accounts receivable as well as follow up correspondence for outstanding accounts receivable.
- Provides back-up support to Payroll/Accounts Receivable Assistant as needed.
Requirements
Requirements include:
- High school or equivalent required.
- Two-year degree preferred.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.
- Strong attention to detail is required.
- Computer skill, including a working knowledge of Fund-EZ preferred and Office 2010 or higher required.
- Accounts Payable and Payroll experience preferred.
- Completion of college courses in bookkeeping or accounting may be substituted for experience.
- Requires the ability to operate business equipment used daily within the organization.
Salary Description
$23 - $25/hour based on experience and education
