Alpert JFS is looking for a an Accountant to join our Finance team to work closely with program staff and leadership to ensure financial procedural compliance and accurate financial reporting on all grants and specialty programs assigned. This position will develop budgets and perform the appropriate tracking and reporting. The Accountant will also serve as a subject matter expert to internal and external stakeholders with regards to financial grant-related activities.
Accountant Essential Responsibilities:
- Review and ensure that all grant financial reporting adheres to company policies and procedures and government regulations. Identify misalignment, recommend action plans and ensure execution of those plans.
- Perform budgeting/forecasting and reconciliation of grant revenue and expense. Analyze variances, identify trends or gaps, and develop actions plans to resolve issues.
- Advise internal and external stakeholders regarding financial reporting for grants.
- Provide financial analysis as needed to support Federal & State grant deliverables.
- Assist providers with monthly contractor expenditure reporting to government agency.
- Assist the CFO in the Agency’s annual budget.
- Backup for payroll accountant.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting.
- Three to five years of grant applications and reporting experience.
- Three to five years’ accounting experience.
- Three years of non-profit budgeting experience.
- Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) required.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Critical thinking, problem-solving, and determination.
- Maintains strong analytical, written, oral and interpersonal skills .
- Working knowledge of payroll; familiarity with Paylocity a plus.
- Detail oriented with keen attention to accuracy.
- Advance working knowledge of Excel, pivot tables a plus.
- Experience in MIP Fund Accounting Software preferable.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Power Point and Outlook.
- Must be able prioritize and work on several tasks unilaterally.
