Teacher's Aide
To assist a certificated classroom teacher in the general supervision and instructional program.
Skills, Education, and Experience Required:
- JOB REQUIREMENT: This position requires strict confidentiality. The employee must refrain from accessing confidential information not specifically required for his/her duties. The employee must refrain from releasing confidential information to individuals who are not authorized to receive information and from discussing sensitive information with coworkers, friends, family members, or other associates without a legitimate “need to know” and/or proper authorization. The employee must follow documented protocols in transmitting confidential information. Employee must be a member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church and be in regular good standing.

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, ability, and physical requirements necessary to perform the job.
- Education and/or Experience
- An associate degree and two years’ experience are desired.
- Language Skills
- Must be able to read and write functional English. Must possess the ability to read, analyze, and interpret documents, as well as the ability to respond effectively to very sensitive inquires or complaints. Bilingual is preferred. Forest City Adventist School Teacher’s Aide Job Description
- Computer Skills
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook). Must possess computer literacy for internet research and knowledge of applicable programs and software.
- Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
- Complete the Department of Children and Families Part I Introductory Child Care Courses (5 courses, 30 hours) Complete the DCF Special Needs Appropriate Practices course or a minimum of 8 hours of in-service training on children with disabilities. Possess an active Staff Credential.
- Other Skills and Abilities
- Must be able to relate to diverse groups of people (cultural, gender, age, etc.). Must be a team player and be able to work in a team-like environment. Must have good written and verbal communication skills, as well as the ability to listen carefully. Must possess adaptability and demonstrate creative responses to setbacks and obstacles. Must show personal management and motivation to work toward goals. Must demonstrate group and interpersonal effectiveness, cooperativeness, and teamwork, and be able to negotiate disagreements. Regular attendance is required.
Job Responsibilities:
- Assists in the implementation of Forest City Adventist school performance standards, policies and procedures, regulations and guidelines in the day-to-day operation of an early childhood development preschool (4 to 5 years of age).
- Assist Lead Teacher in reviewing the progress of each child and developing written plans to promote each child’s growth and development.
- Maintain a well-organized, safe and attractive classroom environment conductive to the optimal growth and development of children.
- Develop a positive a positive relationship with each child and promote the development of self-esteem and self-discipline.
- Assist lead Teacher in planning an implementing the daily program of activities based on the principles of child development and in accordance with the program’s curriculum.
- Observe each child every day to assess skills, interests, and needs and use this information to facilitate learning and growth.
- Establish a positive relationship with each child’s family and share information about the child’s day at the preschool.
- Supervises the classroom when the teacher is out of the room.
- Supervises students at assemblies, field trips, lunch, recess, and other activities.
- Performs other related duties given by lead teacher or principal.
