Position: Head Start Childcare Center Services Director (Over 150 children)
Location: North Dade
Status: Exempt, Full-time
Range: $55K to $60K depending on experience
Summary: Seeking an experienced Center Director to oversee the strategic development, integration, and delivery of Head Start and Early Head Start services. Leading a dynamic facility of 66 to 166 children, you will ensure full compliance with Head Start Program Performance Standards, manage comprehensive daily operations, and maintain a safe, enriching environment for children and families.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following . Other duties may be assigned.
- Ensures the program meets licensing and compliance standards, follows YWCA child care curriculum and program standards.
- Keeps Director of Head start & Early Childhood Programs informed of center status and performance.
- Interviews and hires staff with the assistance and approval of the Director of Head start & Early Childhood Programs and policy committee when appropriate.
- Implements the YWCA developmentally appropriate learning program for infants, toddlers and preschoolers through staff coordination and overall planning. Assists teachers in formulating lesson plans.
- Manages programs within budget and according to guidelines; collects and transmits fees, when applicable. Responsible for timely and accurate management and records for all reimbursable programs.
- Trains staff to work directly with parents and help them to better understand the program.
- Supervises, schedules assigns, trains and evaluates all center staff including substitutes. Arranges substitutes as needed.
- Manages the accuracy and timeliness of reporting that include but are not limited to: timesheets and sign-in/out logs; attendance and program related reporting (CCFP, SR, VPK etc.); incident reports, food program rosters and staff and children’s files.
- Maintains cooperative and supportive relationships with parents, staff and other agencies through an exchange of oral and written information and knowledge while upholding confidentiality and non-disclosure commitments.
- Serves as a developmentally appropriate role model for classroom staff. Has direct classroom responsibility according to enrollment and promotes center to maintain full enrollment.
- Ensures that CCFP (federal food) guidelines are followed.
- Coordinates training and program monitor reviews for Child Care Food Program staff as needed regarding the Child Care Food Program.
- Plans and convenes parent meetings with the assistance of appropriate staff.
- Ensures that Child’s health history is current, and follows up with treatment and status as needed.
- Assists parents of HS/EHS children to follow the schedule of well-child health care.
- Tracks healthcare services for all children, and makes referrals for evaluations and follow-ups.
- Ensures that policies and procedures are established and implemented to respond to medical, dental, and other emergencies.
- Ensures each child’s nutritional needs are identified.
- Ensures that program provides annual screenings, and nutrition review for all children.
- Attends and participates in YWCA in-house staff training.
Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education or closely related field with concentration in Early Childhood education or Child Development required, master’s preferred; Three to Five years’ experience in early childhood programs teaching, planning, and training of educational activities for young children is required; including two years' supervisory experience in large childcare facility; or equivalent combination of education & experience. Florida Director’s credential is essential.
Ability to effectively communicate with children and adults; Respond to common inquiries or complaints from children and/or their parents, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to effectively present information. Bilingual in English and Spanish/Creole preferred
Manages twenty or more staff. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Salary
$55,000 to $60,000 depending on experience
