Your Specific Responsibilities:

  • Time sheet and EAR entry within the required time frame.
  • Subject to emergency duty in the event of a natural disaster.
  • Completion of all mandatory or assigned trainings within the required time frame, as deemed necessary by the Department, the Delegated Authority, grant requirements and/or Florida Statutes.
  • Certification in CPR and First aid is required to be maintained.
  • Identifies the purpose of the client’s visit, reviews the current health history and documents data on the correct forms and in electronic records. Examines the client and documents the physical findings on the appropriate forms and in electronic records, in accordance with medical protocols. Documentation is complete and accurate; reflects services provide and prepares any necessary reports. Utilizes EHR.
  • Provides direct patient care of HIV, hepatitis and primary care clients (both male and female) for health maintenance by performing a complete screening physical examination and evaluation of laboratory and tests results.
  • Within established protocols, monitors medications and initiates appropriate therapies for certain conditions and alters medications according to variations in a patient’s response.
  • Performs, orders and interprets routine laboratory tests such as urinalysis, blood counts, pregnancy test, smears and cultures. Evaluate laboratory results in the area of HIV such as Genotypic drug-resistance testing, CD4 counts, HIV viral loads, liver function test and screening for opportunistic infections. Assures follow up of abnormal test results.
  • Provides health education and counseling for patients, including the psychosocial dimensions in the area of nutrition. Arranges referrals as needed to other members of the heath care team or recommends outside specialist consults when needed.
  • Prepares reports related to personal health programs. Reviews and approves content of client education programs. Promotes health education within the clinic area. Participates in Quality Improvement activities. Maintains membership in professional organizations, participates in meeting and workshop seminars. Provides direct and general supervision as a preceptor to nurse practitioner students.

Qualifications:

Minimum-

Currently licensed in the State of Florida as a Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner

Ability to develop a treatment plan and interpret diagnostic tests

Current Certification for CPR and First Aid

Experience in disease managament and treatment

Be able to explain any direct experience with HEP-C and HIV care and treatment.

Preferred-

Bilingual Ability to assess clients' current and future needs

Knowledge to recognize situations in which interventions is needed to outcomes or prevent harm

Recognizes and manages abnormal findings as prescribed under medical protocol. Documents appropriate client visit summaries in the electronic medical record. Real time documentation of all care and client communications.

Ability to perform procedures common to their professional practice and work effectively with a health care team.
