The Bradenton Christian School Athletic Trainer will faithfully support Bradenton Christian School’s mission statement to prepare the hearts and minds of God’s covenantal children in partnership with the home and church for service in God’s world. It is the Athletic Trainer’s responsibility to carry out the policies of the School Board as they relate to the function of the school, to the classroom, and to their association with students and parents.

Summary:

The Athletic Trainer supports the physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being of student-athletes by providing expert care in injury prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation. In addition to clinical responsibilities, this individual is a spiritual mentor and role model, reflecting Christ-like character and excellence in all aspects of athletic training.

Duties/Responsibilities:

Spiritual Leadership

• Demonstrates a genuine love for God and maintains a strong Christian walk.
• Models Christ-like behavior and mentors students in what it means to follow Christ.
• Integrates Biblical principles into the athletic training environment.
• Encourages spiritual growth and character development among student-athletes.

Clinical Care & Emergency Response

• Assesses, diagnoses, and treats sports-related injuries and medical conditions.
• Provides on-field first aid and emergency care during practices and games.
• Designs individualized rehabilitation programs for injured athletes and monitors progress, while following all FHSAA protocols.
• Adjusts treatment plans as needed to ensure safe and timely return to play.

Injury Prevention & Wellness

• Develops and implements injury prevention programs and wellness initiatives.
• Educates athletes, coaches, and parents on injury prevention strategies.
• Promotes proper nutrition, hydration, and conditioning to enhance athlete safety and performance.

Collaboration & Communication

• Collaborates with coaching staff to optimize athlete performance and recovery.
• Communicates effectively with parents, athletes, and medical professionals regarding injury status and recovery plans.
• Supervises student athletic trainers, offering guidance and mentorship.
• Provides teacher assistance during one class period per day, supporting classroom needs as assigned.

Administration & Record Keeping

• Maintains accurate and confidential records of injuries, treatments, and rehabilitation.
• Manages daily operations of the athletic training room, including inventory and equipment maintenance.
• Ensures compliance with school policies, state regulations, and professional standards.
• Manages all athletic clearances through the Home Campus portal for the Department and communicates athletes’ status with coaches.

Professional Development & Community Engagement

• Participates in workshops, conferences, and training to stay current on athletic training practices and technologies.
• Attends continuing education opportunities to maintain certification and licensure.
• Engages in school and community events that promote health, safety, and athletic excellence.

Work Schedule:

• Provides coverage for all home practices and athletic events, and all football games regardless of location.
• Available as needed for travel or additional athletic-related events based on school needs.

Required Skills and Abilities:

• A clearly articulated testimony of personal faith in Jesus Christ as Savior along with weekly in-person attendance in a Christian church.
• A clear understanding of and support for covenantal Christian education along with a desire to lead students in the development of a Christian worldview.
• Demonstrates spiritual maturity and a growing commitment to the Christian faith.
• Possesses the ability to demonstrate a philosophy of Christian education and personal faith aligned with the mission and Statement of Belief of Bradenton Christian School.
• Bachelor’s degree in athletic training, Exercise Science, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
• Certification by the National Athletic Trainers' Association Board of Certification; valid state license as an athletic trainer.
• Current CPR and first aid certification.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience as an athletic trainer (preferred).
• Strong knowledge of injury prevention, assessment, treatment, and rehabilitation techniques.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment and manage multiple tasks.
• Passion for sports, fitness, and helping athletes achieve their goals.
• Working knowledge of MS Office Suite and Home Campus or similar sports clearance tools.
• Ability to work in a physically demanding environment, including lifting and transporting equipment and athletes.
• Must be able to stand for extended periods and respond quickly in emergency situations.
